First, it jams of Iran and the Mullahs. I've known quite a few people from Iran. Very educated. They were basically chased out of that country.

And China does import almost 80% of it's crude oil. We just took Venezuela off line for them (no more discounts). Not sure how much oil gets shipped to china still...

And now Iran. A big provider of Oil to China.

The downside is this means they will buy more oil from Russia. the biggest problem they have is their "non-exportable" currencies. But the banking ties between these two countries are sufficient. Even if the exchange rates might suck.

Well, I certainly did not vote for this, or this guy ... I live in Arizona. I think there was some consensus, the New Yorkers are going to get what they voted for, yes? I figure that the quality of life in NY will continue to degrade until enough individuals decide to shrug.

Same scenario NATO used to smash Yugoslavia into pieces. Once Russia is in civil unrest and chaos, NATO steps in to "maintain order" and the oligarchs have access to the world's greatest storehouse of minerals, oli, gas, rare earths, and control of the Eurasian land mass.

But the most the EU and NATO can do with Russia now is ban their flag at the Olympics.

Very interesting collection of graphs. One recurring thought jumped out at me right away. "Productivity" is a misleading economic indicator. I've always thought of it as "fewer people working harder". I don't see it as a great thing, overall. It can look great when overall employment is in the toilet and those working are working like scared bunnies trying to stay ahead of the wolf. Not healthy. Not how I want to live...Because I've seen too much of it in my generation.

Well written. I remember the one time I was at a DUI checkpoint. Didn't feel natural for me. The cop stood there holding and staring at my license for a good couple minutes, saying nothing. I just stared at him - zero emotion - until he handed it back and let me go.

Lately, I've been seeing a few videos of people rolling their window down just enough to pass the license - then saying, "I don't answer questions" to every question...and they let them go. My problem is that I think it's all bullshit and I'm at risk of saying so. Then, I know the Gestapo will get all wound up with the alpha dog act. I respect authority to a point...but respect is earned.
