A Dodge Ram with a big Hemi is 100% American too! Just as long as you don't drive a Prius with a "Feel the Bern" bumper sticker, you're okay with me!

My son is tall, blonde, blue-eyed - handsome. He also has autism. He's a good kid with a good heart. He, at his young age, has already been questioning the politically correct people who've attacked him for no reason. It pains me to have to explain it - that he'll be a target because of how he looks. I used to just get into fist fights over it, but he's peaceful and kind and they smell blood when he's around. I have to tell him why he can't say or do certain things...as though we're like any persecuted group in the past.

I'm good with the $800M figure...

Good. I was truly disgusted with how the media fueled the insane hatred for that kid. He did nothing wrong.

By taking out ads to promote socialist organizations. Some of their socialist advertisers will probably take out extra product ads, to each according to their needs.

I gave you a +1 for that revelation as well.

I think the left is getting a boomerang on that.

You can push people only so far.

I am the exact same thing as you described, in the female version. The left is especially hostile toward conservative females b/c they are targeting the female population as being receptive to their agenda, except that it hasn't been working out well recently.

Yes, but in addition I suppose a dollar amount could be placed per infraction and then figure how many infractions were made by how many reporters and how many times it was repeated 24/7 of air time or how many issues of print, all in how many cities world wide? The barrage of slapping around this young man and his family had to endure for how long?

    Had to +1 all that!

Edit add: OK, I'm not a NRA life member nor a nuclear engineer and I drive a Dodge Ram with a big Hemi, does that count?

Fox 19 also reported, "Attorneys say the money they're seeking is not designed to compensate Nick, but to 'deter the defendants' from doing the same thing (that they're accused of) in the future."

I am trying to get my brain around the $800M financial figure ... How is this amount arrived at? I agree that Sandmann was harassed and wrongly portrayed and that his reputation has suffered damages. But -- I try to see myself in the conference room where Sandmann and his counsel are arriving at a lawsuit figure. What calculus is involved in computation of the number? How, on Earth, do you arrive at $800 Million?

When I watched the Kavanaugh hearings, I placed myself in Mr. Kavanaugh's shoes -- to be the recipient of a fraudulent character assassination. I then tried to come up with the math -- the figures -- in terms of damages to Kavanaugh. In short, I would calculate two numbers: The first number "what is my reputation worth in terms of a dollar figure?" Let's say my counsel and and I run the numbers and we calculate $8 million. Next, we calculate a fraction -- what is the fraction of my reputation that has been destroyed? We come up with 40%. Do the math: 40% of $8M is $3.2 million ... we sue the individuals that made the false claims for damages to the tune of $3.2 million dollars. Notice -- the suit is not with respect to "how much money does the fraud-endorsing claimant have" -- it is based on objectively defendable numeric values in terms of worth that has been damaged.

In Sandmann's case -- if he were to get a settlement for as "little" as $8 million (1/100th of that initially requested), he could put half into blue-chip dividend paying stocks and the other half in residential rental real-estate and be set with ~$300k annually. In short, he would be Set For Life.

If anyone can offer explanation for how that astronomical $800M figure is arrived at, I would like to hear it.

If the LSM (lame-stream media) ever took notice of me, they would really go into orbit. I'm a: 1) Straight 2) White 3) Male 4) Christian 5) Gun owning 6) Deer hunting 7) NRA Life Member, 8) Conservative Republican, who 9) voted for Donald Trump, 10) drive an F150 with a nice big V8 engine, AND 11) I'm a Nuclear Engineer. Note: I "took it to 11!" :-) Yep, there's "intersectionality" for ya'!

I just saw "Richard Jewell" in the theater, and think the presstitute and the federal agent should have been held accountable, too. When it finally hits the "reporter's" pocketbook, they might get back to reporting facts instead of a 'narrative'...

I think not just the news companies should be held liable but the individual reporters should be forced to pay a substantial portion out of their individual bank accounts. These settlements certainly hurt the companies but do nothing to hurt the big mouth idiots pushing the false stories.

Can you imagine the far left mob outrage against the News media if they actually told the truth, and had reported that it was black people that were being racist? This truth goes so against the left’s made up collective narrative.

Obviously CNN concluded it was a no win situation or they would not have settled. With that, it would seem that Wa Po and NBC will follow suit. They have trillions of DS funding backing them so once they settle, the media will just make it go away by not drawing any attention to the issue.

My thought at the time was that he (Nick) had a deer-in-the-headlight look, and I really believe he was trying to figure out what to do.

I think he handled himself admirably , considering his age and the amount of stress. I had forgotten how young and vulnerable 16 years is, until I compared him with my same-age grandson, and I honestly believe my grandson would have done much the same. Sometimes when you don't know what to do, you do nothing, and that's the best response.

I hope he gets rich, but not rich enough to hamper his ability to still want things in life. He seems like such a neat kid.

Agreed, Solver...as per the MSM or the drive-by media, Nick S. was in a no-win situation through no fault of his own...

And one of the "news" sources has paid the price. I hope the other two are FORCED to pay the price also. I hope Nicholas winds up with at least a half a billion.
