If we got rid of the electoral college, that means we would then have a true democracy (translation mob rule). It also means the there would ONLY be democrats elected who offered to buy the votes of the uneducated.

Hope you are right about that. The number one priority for all conservatives should be making sure that the Dimocrats lose the House and that we retain the Senate. Otherwise, it'll be back like a bad nightmare.

One aspect of the Republic is the Electoral College and how we elect our President. All the Democrat's keep talking about the popular vote that Hillary won. It is the states that elect the President and not individual votes.

It most definitely IS an attack on demonocracy because we ARE a Republic.

I seriously doubt that the House has time to pursue another impeachment inquiry - no matter how much Pelosi may wish otherwise. Most members - even on the Democrat side - are tired of it and more importantly, this is an election year and EVERYONE in the House is up for re-election. That means they have to get out and campaign or they are doomed to be voted out in November. Remember, the Primaries are happening now (and realistically have to be firmed up by April) and even the incumbents are going to face challengers from their own parties. I think Pelosi has played out her hand - and lost. Will they try to remove Trump again after the elections? We'll see if they hold the House. I don't think they'll have the votes to bring it back up again even if they do, as I think these shenanigans are going to bite them hard in November.

Greetings all, it's been a heck of a long time since I've last logged in and the world has gotten even crazier since. BTW, we are supposed to be a Republic. But that all ended long before we were born. Read on what President Wilson said shortly after he signed into law the federal reserve (about as federal as federal express). He also enacted one of the communist planks (Thanks Rockefellers!) of progressive income tax. The Republic ended (IMHO) in December 1913. Later all!

I think it was very telling when the original party of Jefferson (the Democratic Republicans) changed its name under Andrew Jackson to just the Democratic Party. Non-coincidentally, that was when Jackson himself started appealing to his popularity with the people for his high-handed approach to government. Many laud him for being a strong leader, but he really was the father of the modern Democratic Party and a move away from a Republic towards the "tyranny of the majority." That "progress" took another major leap forward with the adoption of the Sixteenth Amendment (income tax - which gave them a tool to punish dissent) and the Seventeenth Amendment (direct election of Senators - which eliminated the major check on the Federal Government by the State governments).

If this coup attempt by the House goes through to Impeach Trump, it will spell the end of our Republic and the descent into a democracy.

The favorite accusation of the left when they criticize ANY move by the president or the GOP is that it is "against our democracy".

It sounds good and the mob has no idea what it means. It is the favorite slogan in the EU, as well.

They usually come forward with it when some outrageous push to establish tyranny fails.
