Ah, finally a reason to get a smart phone.
While we're very happy to have you in the Gulch and appreciate your wanting to fully engage, some things in the Gulch (e.g. voting, links in comments) are a privilege, not a right. To get you up to speed as quickly as possible, we've provided two options for earning these privileges.
4 flavors, including Bay rum. Reminds me of a lot of the men in my life when I was younger, even has a slightly sexy undertone to it... go figure! (I do my legs with one of those, things just *might* get dangerous...)
I know Judy, she's on our side.
See if I ever buy Barbasol again! Might just have to take up growing a knee-beard...
(Sorry - that even sounds kinda gross...)
Lo and behold... about 3 months ago, I get this "important mailer" from the DNC (Dumb Nutcase Commies) asking me to "give my opinions to President Potus, er, Obama, because he needs my input to hep form his national policy"...
Most of them were skewed answers on their multiple stab form (all of them socialistic communist claptrap), but the few that I could check other, I did give him my honest, well thought out advice.
I forgot how many times I wrote "RESIGN - NOW" on those blanks...
I'm surprised he hasn't taken my deeply thought out and logical advice he so desperately needed to set policy for the country. Maybe he'll get right on it as soon as he comes in from the links...
But then, there is no silliness that mankind can't adhere to (Remember pet rocks?)
had stainless steel screws for the carpenters to use
when attaching the "trex" (actually, profection)
recycled plastic planks to the front porch. they
asked why we were using such expensive screws.
we answered that we were voting with our $$ --
longer-lasting, made in the U.S. "But we have to
drill a pilot hole for every screw," they replied.
we answered, "so you take longer and get paid
more."
they got quiet. -- j
I think that 'moving the whole country a notch or two towards the right is a viable plan. The reason that Republicans are presenting R-Lite candidates is that they are imitating the 'winners'. If we make more conservatives winners, then we will see a better span of candidates on the conservative side. (I would love the competition to be between the Libertarian, Tea Party, and Repub candidates, for example.)

About a year ago, the RNC called me up asking for money, and I decided I'd had enough. I was tired of a solid candidate winning a primary only to be financially deserted by the RNC during the election. I told them when they begin supporting fiscally conservative candidates (dare I say it... Tea Party - there, I said it!) rather than "Democrat Lite" candidates, we will talk. Until then, I'll donate directly to those candidates that I support since the RNC will not. Later, I received an RNC solicitation mailing, to which I replied back directly to the officer of the RNC (not the fundraising third party address) giving him both my observations and my rationale for my position, and explaining why I would not donate to the RNC in the future until I saw change. I'm not getting calls or mailings from them these days, which I believe speaks volumes.
