Have a niece who got married in the chapel on the Jackson plantation called The Hermitage in the town she grew up in called Old Hickory, Tennessee (beside Nashville). Then we all celebrated with a big meal in the spacious dinning room in the mansion (of its time).
Her father is the only of my four brothers who is deceased (for evidently falling asleep while driving and crashing into a tree).
When asked where he was from during a family reunion by a lake in Florida, he would say Nashville for the same reason me dino of Pleasant Grove usually says Birmingham.
Heck, here in Alabama I pass by a turn-off to another Pleasant Grove driving to and from Florida. Maybe it's why we have zip codes.

Andrew Jackson was definitely a mixed bag. Yes, he took on the Federal Reserve and won. He kept the Federal government limited in size. But he also was responsible for the destruction of the American Indian tribes in Florida and Georgia as he took unauthorized action against them using his troops. He was also a dedicated racist - not just against blacks but Native Americans, Chinese, and others. He was also the father of the modern Democratic Party as he severed all ties to the "Republican" part of "Democratic Republicans."

The last image, Democratic Party, Party of Jackson - A couple bits that I do recall; Jackson did "break the bank" and managed to have a balanced budget / paid off the debt completely (without the use of pushing financial peas around the plate). Then again, names and labels have been changed / mangled over the course of the centuries ... decades. I recall during the Reagan years when Blue states were Republican and Red were Democrat. We are constantly being played.
