I laughed through my tears, OUC. So many memories got stirred, and so many stabs for what has taken the place of a simple thing like being present in the now. I lived them all and about lost it with the camel LOL and thank you!

The ancestor phone with a cord ... and the camel enjoying a snack that just wandered by... All Good.
    Thank you Carl.

Most welcome and good luck if you want to give it a whirl. Not expensive to try the antenna thing. I-Heart-Radio is normally free.

Edit add: My son got me an Amazon Alexa as a gift and I have it in the workshop. All I have to do is say, "Alexa, play W-H-A-M Radio" and it fires right up. Alexa streams the station from I-Heart.

I have good memories of the Wolfman, too, and I live in western NY. I think he was based in Los Angeles, but was carried by many stations.

During WW2 I had to walk a half mile down a mud road to catch the school bus. We'd moved back to the farm. That was really fun when the temp was 30 degrees and it was raining. Daddy laughed when I told him about it and he said, 'That's why you are such a tough little babe!'

It started as 4 because little dino liked to sit on the floor in Dothan, Alabama. That put me near the channel selector.
I was a teenager when it became 5 for picking up Panama City, Florida. Big dino had evolved into a chair sitter by then.

    Antenna memories-
In my younger days, driving non-stop between Seattle and San Francisco, I would keep awake by listening to Wolfman Jack, loud and raucous rock. Now where was that located, Colorado?

Afterthought addition... I've always had trouble with AM radio stations around my house as well. Some kind of external buzz I never identified the source for and tuning was possible but a PITA to get a decent sound. I liked to listen to Rush and now Clay and Buck. I found I can get the same station (WHAM locally) over the Internet (I-heart-radio). It's crystal clear. Actually, if you can get I-heart you can get any station on the service, including WHAM, anywhere.

Mine is an indoor model I installed in the storage area in the peak of my garage/workshop. Ran a coax down to the TV. Had power up there already (if I didn't I would have bought the non powered model). It's a rectangular thing with a couple of rabbit ears sticking out. Can't remember the model, but if you want the model name and number let me know and I'll crawl up there and get it.

Is it indoor or outdoor. I am in a terrible reception area, I could get new haven/cbs/channel 8 with an old TV with rabbit ears but even radio stations are hard to get inside the house...would need an antenna on the roof I think....like the old days.

Yes! I was surprised that I could get about 30 stations. All the locals and fooling with it I could get nearby cities and even a station from Canada across Lake Ontario. I would say 23 stations were excellent and 7 were less than excellent, but watchable if you really like what is on. I picked up the antenna for about 35 bucks on sale at Target. I bought the plug-in-amplified model. You can purchase them at Best Buy and Walmart, too. Even Ollies and Big Lots has some models. Lots to choose from so do a bit of homework to make sure you get one that suits what you want.

Edit add: Although I think all modern TVs have an antenna/cable input you may want to make sure yours does if you want to do this. When you get the antenna attached you have to go through a setup procedure on your TV. Check your manual if you don't know how to do this.

    "People Nowadays are sick."
I've seen videos of such heartless voyeur behavior displayed by smiling shitheads with cellphones.
