Glad you made it through in one unfrozen piece! We dodged the power outage, and a good thing because we have no fireplace. If that had happened, I planned on doing a lot of baking in our gas-powered oven :)

    Happy to provide that warmth.
Had a couple of unbearable days, only because we've dodged the bullet these past 5 years, all in all, it was par for the course in normal times.
I also was prepared for once with extra fire wood, hand cut and split. ( had to keep this already skinny 70 year old shrinking body in shape) and I also invested in extra heating oil with 200 gallon tubs on aluminum skids.

I'm late to the party again! Belated Merry Christmas to all and, Carl, I hope you're not frozen fast to your keyboard right now! We managed -4 and a wind chill of -31 here in the suburbs west of Cleveland. Warm times are already arriving and the laughs from these memes have warmed our hearts!

Thanks for the history. The Religion: (organized teachings...the way THEY want it to maintain control) is Very different from the raw teaching themselves.
One makes sense the other does not...

One large wrinkle in your plan, The end of this 12K cycle will need to be survived, also, crustal shifts, volcanic eruption, earthquakes and the finally, the sun's micro nova.
Probable within the next 20 years at the present rate of magnetic pole movement and weakening of the magnetic field...hope you make it.

Merry Christmas, OUC! And to all in the Gulch!

Uh huh. Like a blind squirrel, the multi-billion dollar taxpayer funded weather forecasting service can get a nut from time to time.

My son in Texas sent me a pic of his dashboard temperature display: 11 degrees F. At the same time it was 39 here in western NY. Getting colder, though, as a new winter storm is blowing in.

    But wait! There's more!
Odds are long that you'll be around for this youngster's 100th birthday. Yet, a reasonable extrapolated vision may be created. Forty-plus years in the future, a Friday the 13th looms. (Is it really obsessive/compulsive to look at details such?) An LRR (Last Ride Rocket) stands at the ready for it's one and only launch.
Need to start making fuel and gathering nitrates well in advance of the EVENT

    Happy Holidays!

For anyone who thinks that Objectivists are mean and hate Christmas, remember that Rand, when asked about Christmas, said she thought that the message, "Rejoice and be merry," was better than "Weep and repent." Here's more: https://ari.aynrand.org/ayn-rand-on-c...

    Merry Christmas!

We will be below 0 by morning they say...never mind wind chill; but so far they've lied about everything...no wind and little rain...the day is young ,though.

Now I know what to do with the dead mower in my shed. Too cool for school! And about the mask - been there and done that when I was in college. We had way too much fun in our fraternity.

Chilly for your part of the country.
At 8AM yesterday it was 35, and by 2PM it was 5. I'm at 44 N Lat. I usually turn the furnace off overnight as I like it "cool" for sleeping. Usually only a 20 degree drop from 10 until 5.
I kicked the furnace on at 3AM. Current temp is still at -8 with 25mph winds.
I haven't run out of stupid things to do ..... yet.

These are great OUC. I laughed and laughed at Fetterman and the NYT. It kind of tells the whole reality in one panel, doesn't it? Have a glorious Christmas. Thank you for making me laugh.
