I thought it would not happen in my lifetime. I believe it impossible to compress such a work into film and please everyone. Each person who reads a book interjects from their own frame of reference a vision of their own perception. Watching a film adapted from such a novel is like seeing it through someone else’s eyes. I may not prefer their every interpretation to mine, but that doesn’t mean it is not of value.
