Glad I don't have an "automated" home

Gotta cringe when I read stories like this and how willing people are to enslave themselves to technology. More concerning, however, is Amazon's reaction - as if they owned this guy's house and everything in it!

You can bet I'm NEVER going to own one of these things.

My desktop is “air gapped” it has ZERO wireless capability. Bluetooth included. If I feel like something fishy is happening I yank the RJ45 out of the wall.

And OMG does Microsoft cry when it can’t report back to the mothership.

It’s a great time to become a Luddite.

Phone, computer. That's all I have, but that is two too many. WIFI is not connected to either computer or TV. But each and every time I look something up on any site, guess what kind of ads pop up on my phone.

I maintain everything in analog mode. Will never 'upgrade' to these devices. Don't want them listening to conversations in my home.

I just had a new Garage Door Opener installed (it sucked because the original one was 25yrs old, the motor was still good, it was the electronics that died!)

Anyways, the guy offers me a unit with WiFi so I can get into the garage with my password...
    NFW, I said.

This is how people will gain access.
It's easy enough to pick most locks.

The TV Show Eureka had a great episode where people were trapped in an AI house that was feeling "Unappreciated"...

So the deep state can turn off your pilot light if you post the wrong thing. Then in the morning, turn it on for you :-)

just imagine what this AI crap is gonna do to us with the stuff it hears us say and do. While we all have time...DISCONNECT while and as much as you can!! Also, as far as I can determine, I do not have any audio/voice cwrap enabled on my phone. I do understand there is a lot of stuff going on that I do not know about.

Terrifying things going on in this country. We better stop accepting what they are inflicting upon us.

While i use Amazone often, I do not subcribe to Prime or any ongoing service. Our daughter told her gilr to clean up her room, all day he played around. She was grounded and sent to her room. After he mom went to bed, she told alexis she was abused, and they almost called police in the middle of the night, but did call our daugher late that night first, luckily! This story remeinds me of an epidode of XFiles, where tachnology took ov the homes of both agents, locking one in and the other out, and taking over all the devices in the homs. It was funny, but prophetic. I do not even have the wifi on my thromstate wired in, as I rad where one person had an ex controlling her heat every day, changing it wile she was at work, took some time to realize he still had the p/w to it. We have to be pioneers, and fend for ourselves, no big brother all the time. Do have prof. installed sec. sys., not wifi controlled, with p/w buttons. Google is going nuts as they have no tracking on me nor seach history since shutdown. I did nto want them to know Iwas out and about, now they keep asking do I not want to turn on the feature - NO It is a spying world,, "1984" is here.

The powers that be have been pushing the smart devices and we are seeing them in proposed car regulations and in home regulations for HVAC and lighting control. It will continue in the name of "The greater good" . There is nothing more dangerous than someone in control that believes they have a moral duty to control you.

There was a Simpsons episode a few years back where they keep saying "Siri: buy this and that"
Hundreds if not thousands of people had a 100lbs of dog food and all manner of unwanted stuff showing up at their door.
I couldn't stop laughing at that.
I randomly scream into my phone what "peeping Tom CS's". "Trump won", "TraderJoe is a Muppet" "Deep State $ucks my wang". "Our government are baby eating Satanists" etc. etc, whatever sick, sedicious thought comes to mind, I share it with the nosey bassturds.

Some of them even have non-Amish friends to set them up with web sites. The plaintiff in an important pending food-freedom case is now selling his dairy products at amosmillerorganicfarm.com .

I have seen friends beam with smug pride when they tell Siri todo something and siri obeys their request while their fat ass remains in the seat. Either they dont know or care but siri is monitoring everything they say and do. I would rather do it the old fashioned way

It's a pity that to join the Amish you must sincerely believe in their particular religion. Also, they are voluntary communists, which is actually helpful to them in avoiding insurance and state-pressured programs. They are definitely not individualists.

Still, some of them use cell phones.

Well, if you have a smart phone, a computer, a television, or Internet phone service in your house, you already listen to. The proof? A friend and I were talking about the old 70s TV show Underdog. That was the show where a mild mannered muttt would pop a pill to become a superhero.

Later on at home, I noticed when I went to youtube underdog, came up. When I went to browsers, some pop-ups came up with energy pills mentions. Oddly enough, my friends did too.

Where are already surrounded. With all the laws in place, they’re just looking for a way for you to slip up so they can get you gone.

I'm with you. My fear is that all "non-smart" devices will be made illegal and/or obsolete, thus forcing the use of "smart" ones. We are fast approaching 1984, just not quite as fast as Orwell thought.

A good example of what will happen to anyone who disagrees with government if we consent to digital currency.
