Being Rude

Secretary Sebeilius testified today on the Hill about the enrolling in the ACA. Many republicans are being called out for rudeness in the hearing. There were hotly fired questions and interruptions during the testimony. But the question begs-
This law will take over 1/6th of the entire US economy. The government can not even provide a reliable website in which to constrain millions of Americans, against their will, to sign up for mandated healthcare. I found her to be cool under fire, frankly, and a lair. We are to remain calm, cool, and civilized while we watch this train wreck take over an incredibly significant part of our lives- hear now, no need to be rude. Shocking! Where is the polite?
I am sure the British used just such an argument with the recalcitrant colonists.

    I don't think it's thin skinned I think it's manipulation...if you can make like someone is just being offensive then it's reason to scorn and dismiss. However, if it's coming from the "tolerant" side it's because they have a reason for it! (Double standards!)

    Are we all that thin skinned today that tough questions are considered rude. The problem with most of these hearings is that when the cameras role most reps are trying to score political points and get soundbites for campaigns. Kh is right about her lying but I doubt we will see much come of this.

    I have found that being polite in tense situations gets you completely ignored. I've lived it many times... then I had to resort to being bitch woman and then suddenly I'm getting listened to but with an air of annoyance. Usually this happens where my kids are involved (ambulance rides/hospital stays) and the other parties assume they know better than the Mom. I think the same goes for those who assume they know better than someone asking revealing questions that might put them in a bad light. As for the questioners they have a right to be impatient and fed up...look where being cordial has gotten us. (The fear of not being PC is what I mean...it shut us up for decades and played right into their hands.)
