Not the restaurant. Me, yes, that was me with my Dad taking a ride in Our Carlinda's first dingy.
The Carlinda was our Hunter Sailing Yacht.(-those were the best of my days)

(See! Old Ugly Carl, wasn't always UGLY)

Hehe, too bad I didn’t get paid for that. 🤪 Idiocracy isn’t here quite yet.

As a fellow “old” I have to say I get that feeling occasionally about my best days being behind me. But then I remember that these days I still get to do cool things while remembering all of the cool stuff I have done and figure: my best days are yet to come because at no point in that past would I be get to remember all the stuff I had yet to do.

Father's Day will be a day of remembering the man who taught me just who and what real men are. He left this plane of existence many years ago, at the age of 80. One month before he succumbed to rampant cancer he was preparing for his yearly Bike to the Bay for MS. His team, including my brothers, sisters and I (I was only able to ride one year. He and several of my brothers rode every year.) had been working all spring to get in shape. He put in a minimum of 27 miles each day so he could ride the 75 mile course one day, back 75 miles the next day. Did I mention that he contracted polio at age 25? He taught us to shoot, to work and be proud of our work, keep our promises and NEVER lie, steal or cheat. He treated Mom with dignity and deference, treated all with courtesy. He would stay calm in a storm of words and actions as people came apart around him. He was our rock, our refuge, our model for what we all wanted to be. If only everyone could have a father, a dad like mine, the world would be a better place.

Simply outstanding, OUC. Thanks for a great end-of-week reading. And as a once and forever nerd, "He finally did it!" may be my favorite of all time.
