AI: Reality v. Garbage

Excerpt:
" The more territory A-I seizes on the Web, and the more it trains itself on recursive feedbacks of its own garbage, the more distorted the output gets. As that occurs, A-I becomes increasingly abstracted from Reality, which is exactly what happens when a person goes insane. So, expect an exponential rise in incorrect content that would, in theory, become a pretty serious problem when you ask A-I to run things like systems we depend on, the electric grid, harvesting crops, warfare. . . .

Secondly, as that process runs, and probably before it gets very far, A-I looks like it will wreck the financial system, which, in turn, would crater the economy of everyday life — the ability of people to earn a living, buy stuff, support children, get food, and stay out of the rain."

Yes, Nomad. "Nomad, you are imperfect. Perform your prime directive."
I also recall the Landru episode, *Return of the Archons."
    "You are the evil!"
Anyone who knows how to program a computer would understand this very well. GIGO-IGO-GO-Oooooooo......

    sounds good.
I have a design for a chassis used for an integrated amplifier/multichannel amplifier/preamplifier and I'd like to get a CAD made.
    Thank you, jb. 👍👍

Meshy.ai has a text to CAD drawing and an image to CAD drawing functionality. As with any AI, the key is how good your prompt is.

I clicked the link and it looks like something I'll need more than 5 minutes (all I have now) to wrap my mind around. Thanks, it looks like it can be a lot of fun to play with.

Excellent article! I sincerely hope the readers of it fully understand the meaning of AI's feedback loop on its own garbage. Decades ago in my early programming days I was told computers are very fast idiots and the slightest mistake can have dire consequences very quickly. As a process programmer I can truly understand how a very fast idiot can get entangled in its own garbage. The initial garbage may be a minuscule piece of false information when fed back on the loop amplifies and multiplies until the whole thing is out of control - very fast! This form of AI doesn't even know it is in error. Boom. [Note: this was covered a long time ago in an original Star Trek episode called "The Changeling" and repeated in the movie "Star Trek: The Motion Picture".]

For a cool, positive use of AI, check out meshy.ai
It will definitely be worth your time if you deal with either CAD drawing or animation.
