If they succeed in secession, they should stay independent and not join another bankrupt empire.

Ha, I didn't see your post before I posted mine, but not joining another bankrupt empire certainly should be considered. We definitely agree on the independence part. You have a point as Albertans want to escape "spread the wealth" Ottawa plans, but maybe shouldn't get in bed with DC "spread the wealth" plans.

They would definitely need a friendly trading partner since they have no coastline
and need a way to transport goods safely in and out.
They aren't in an ideal location for that reason.
As you mentioned, dealing with the current US administration would be much easier
than with a leftist bunch of parasites like most of the US con-gress and the federal
        bureaucracy.
If the swamp regains more control it could result in an agreement between Alberta
and some conservative states wishing to exit the bankrupt US empire.

As an Albertan I can tell you that the next province east, Saskatchewan, will likely join Alberta if we gain independence. Most of British Columbia would join us too, but British Columbians have to step up. Rural British Columbians are conservative, like Alberta and are abandoned by the Marxists goons in the lower mainland. BC would have to split. If they do, it would give the new country a deep-water port at Prince Rupert. It's inevitable that the map will be withdrawn. There are too many Corruptocrats in Washington, too many paid off members of congress to make joining the USA a viable option. Sorry my American friends, joining with you is too risky for our freedom. Congress drags its feet far behind president Trump. Most of his changes appear to be temporary until the next commu...Democrat president weasels his way into office.

I would love to see such an island of liberty there, perhaps also as an alternative to the Caymans for financial freedoms.
(Unfortunately the corrupt parasites in D.C. will stand as a significant roadblock.)

Thank you for the comments, perhaps they might start getting more people down here to take more of an active position in our governmental issues. And there are plenty of people here that have the same feelings about our government, but then again, do little to effect it, other than expressing ain't it a bitch. One fortunate thing happening: Trumps movement is getting more worldly attention every month that goes by.

You can say communist - we all understand! Like the way you think - and agree it would be best to stay independent based on the recent record of USA with the exception of the 8 years of Trump....

My thoughts are the US Democrat party has gone Anti-American Marxist enough where, being a part of a global Marxist rule (from Beijing?) is the goal, it would be very likely to throw Alberta under Ottawa's left wing bus rather than let it break away. Trumpers, who are mostly from what's left of Free America, would be helpful in Alberta's bid for freedom. The American left will hate that almost as much as they hate the Russians bid to trashcan communism.

IMO, the people of Alberta, which is essentially Canada's Texas, should follow the playbook of Texas and become it's own free country first. They should immediately make a military alliance with the US in case Ottawa gets dirty thoughts and pulls a Lincoln. Then, after they consolidate their own identity, consider becoming a US state. This interim time would give them the opportunity to convert from a Canadian provincial government to a US state type government with minimal disruption should US statehood be the ultimate goal.

Time is of the essence, however, because becoming a free country or a US state when the US is under "Trump-like" (Vance?) governance would be preferable to a left wing Democrat governance. Albertans in general don't seem to be very Marxist at this time.

The process will be complex and take time to iron out the details.

Swap Minnesota, California, Portland and Seattle, for Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Or just get the graviton machines lined up on the Nevada border and let Chlamydiafornia slide into the Pacific.

You got me laughing, fairbro, LOL. We could use one of those graviton machines here in western NY to get NYC to float out to sea.

Kansas City didn't maybe the playoffs, so I was hoping for the Bills (I'm originally from Elmira, NY). Now I'm fearful of going there to visit my old pal who's morphed into a media dupe with an acute (but humorous) case of TDS, and my uncle in Rochester. Just a quick in-and-out, I'll be safe. LOL! Lived on Hertel Ave. in Bufflao and Lyell in Rochester when I played in rock music bands.

After the Rev War my ancestor, who fought in the Colonial Army, was awarded land near Elmira for his service. Sold the land to NYS in 1830 and descendants migrated west and north until we landed in Rochester. I still live near Rochester where I was born. Lots of TDS around here, but not as much as NYC and I'm surviving, LOL. I have a grandson living in Kansas City, but I haven't been there myself yet.

Hurry up, Alberta, so that Saskatchewan and British Columbia have time to follow your lead. Stay independent, by all means, and you may have those southern borders being crossed by disgusted Washingtonians wanting to join your new country. Will you remain as separate independent states in a coalition or will you band together like your Southern neighbor? We will all be watching as this amazing drama unfolds, and we all hope for your best results. Just as a side bar, Eastern Washington may petition to join as well. That side of the state is trampled under the western side politics.
