I don 't know why everyone is always fixated on "greed " as part of Objectivism. The heroes in her novels do not in any way demonstrate the vice. The villians do, however

    I still say db is insightful... perceptive. My only regret is that I spelled "Knew" wrong in my comment prior to that one... Sheesh... I am definitely error prone...

    db is an insightful fellow. I like to think more like # 2. Very determined and focused...
    Nobody is perfect except me and you... And I'm not that sure about me... :)

    1.Lack of self-introspection
    2.not wanting to get side-tracked
    3.self-aggrandizement

    Credit where credit is due... We all benefit from the work of others. She new this and expressed it in some ways, but not explicitly in these... Did she consciously choose to, or was it simply an oversight? I would love to ask. Alas, it is too late.

    I think the largest disconnect for me, is her refusal to acknowledge important scientists and philosophers which did influence her. I find that a weakness and not a strength. For instance acknowledging Locke and that she expanded on natural rights would have not alienated people from sympathizing with her views. and her Ethics-it clearly builds on the intellectual heritage of Darwin. Instead she chose to isolate herself instead of drawing people.

    The answer to your question: Superficial, uninformed analysis at best... the article is excellent. Except the comment near the heading. "Ayn Rand was a philosophical hypocrite, but a magical novelist." I don't think so... "hypocrite" Oh, and a few other points in the article, but it is an interesting perspective.
