Sowell: The War Against Achievement

there are many words or phrases that have been consciously replaced with other words by design. In my world, most notably "innovation" has replaced "invention."
Instead of "give" one now hears "give back."
"wetlands" for "swamp"
what other ones can you think of?

It is refreshing reading Thomas Sowell articles, it’s like reading Charles. That was the first time I read someone reference “the war on woman” as ridiculous; what politician would alienate the largest group of the population? I mentioned this during the last presidential campaign but it mostly fell on deaf ears; ugh. I just finished an “Achievement”, I built some shelving in my kitchen. I should have declared myself a victim when: after repairing the wall after taking down a cabinet, I was drilling a pilot hole for a bracket, when I pulled the drill out a spout of water cam streaming down on to the counter top!
I screamed! Two days later, the redesigned shelves were up and look nice.

"Successful businessman" changed to 1%'er. And the WORST one I hear a lot is if someone is "doing well" they are considered "LUCKY"

this top 1% thing bugs the heck out of me. Although, I am sensitive to the widening gap in between the upper and middle class. give the connected one's money at 0% to loan out. how brilliant are the "successful" businessmen now?
