I took the reverse approach. I called my Congresswoman's (Kay Granger, Fort Worth, TX) office and told her that I would never vote for her again. Nothing really new there, because I never have voted for her in the first place. I let her office monkeys know that unless/until they start actually fighting for something beyond her own reelection, that she is of no use to me. Further, I have and will continue to work with and vote for ANY fiscally conservative Republican/Tea Party candidate that comes along.

In truth, it makes no difference, as she is about as safe as she could possibly be in her position, but I do make it a point to call in a couple times a month to let her know that her gutlessness is not appreciated.

My congressman even sent me a letter in response to my letter to him saying that I don't think Boener should be re-elected. He did not vote for Boehner,

I think you are very wrong that it makes no sense to just get a couple of people elected from another party. One, nothing will every change unless you stop believing the only answer is to vote either R or D. It has be shown and documented that even when a candidate from another party runs and does not win, it affects the Rs and Ds. Besides you have NOT wasted your vote if you support someone you believe in. But you have wasted it if you vote for the R&D party… yes it is really only one party.

One problem, the Tea Party is NOT a political party. It is series of advocacy groups. The Constitution Party is a Political Party (http://www.constitutionparty.com), The Libertarians is a Political Party, the Green Party is Political Party, but the Tea Party is NOT.

Such is "Life in the Big City..."

If you are going to fight the machine, be aware of the consequences if you fail. In the real world, actions have consequences. This is also true of the fantasy world of Washington DC. Boehner was following an example held for decades in order to keep a party with a common front. That's fine if the common action is a good cause, not so fine if it supports the actions of a go along to get along person like Boehner.

Gotta either try, or just give up and look for another place to live. Expecting things to otherwise change is insanity.

In addition, many of the 60% don't realize they are so dependent on Government, or like me (a defense contractor) don't think the value we can offer will disappear just because we make Government efficient and lower cost. $100 toilet seats do not come from defense contractors soaking the Government. They come from ridiculous Government requirements and specifications. NASA used to have drawings for their own hand shovels.

Given the fact that roughly 60% of the American people depend upon government in one manner or another, that's going to be a very hard sell.

These guys took a hell of a risk, and they are going to be punished for it.
They will be thrown of committees, especially if they are in the committee leadership.

They knowingly risked their careers and lost the bet.

I think what these guys should do next is:
1) Form a "Tea Party Caucus" if they have not already.
2) Declared that they are switching parties to "Tea Party", officially forming the party.
3) Declare that they will caucus with the RINOs so that Pelosi does not get become speaker.
4) Fight every damned thing Boehner does.

Amen. Same for Idaho. And that was after Raul Labrador even proposed himself for Speaker last go-around. I knew Simpson would vote for Boehner - he's old guard. I had hoped Labrador would not.

I was very disappointed with the representatives from Utah. We have put in some people I thought would be good. Mia Love, Chris Stewart... All 4 voted for the guy and should not have. Those two were both new and Tea Party kind of people. I would have thought at least they would not support him.

On the flip side it was the strongest stand against a leader of the house since the civil war so Boner has to be embarrassed.

I was disappointed in the new ones that voted for Boehner. I did try to express my concern and encourage my Rep but he voted for Boehner (he's not a newbie. This is his 3rd or 4th term I think). But I got a skanky email message back from him this morning/last night about my email to him about the vote! I know he's not a conservative, but I keep hoping that he'll at least make an effort to not destroy the country.

I'm sure Boehner is exactly that, and would love to put some more Libertarians in there. However, it would makes no sense to have a couple of people get elected, stand on principal, and get dumped the next round.
We have to figure out a way to appeal to people (at least the people not just looking for handouts) that smaller government and lower taxes and regulation will improve the overall good.

I am waiting to see how the rest are "punished".

Up until now, the representatives of my state have been putting on a good little play-pretend of being grass roots conservatives.
None voted against the crying carrot face but a weasel named Gary Palmer, not of my district.
He actually voted for Jeff Sessions, my senator on the other side of the capitol building.
I caught that singular vote yesterday reading a different more detailed list.
I wonder how many Alabamians he fooled with that ploy. Not the old dino.

Only 1 voted "present". Pelosi could not have won, since she didn't have a majority of those present. Most Dems (a couple dozen or so) from the NY delegation were not present and were at Cuomo's funeral. This conveniently lowered the majority vote threshold, allowing Boehner to win the speakership without getting an actual majority vote of Congress (he got 216 votes instead of at least 218). There were only about 407 present and voting, instead of 435, so Boehner only needed about 204 votes to win, instead of 218.

Of those who voted against Boehner and for another Republican, the most votes (12) went to Florida Congressman Dan Webster. Most others (Yoho, Goehmert, etc...) only received 1 or 2 each...

We will know within 30 days but I will not be holding my breath.

Wow, only 25 Republicans were able to stand against the establishment. Maybe Boehner really is representative of the Republican party and all it stands for. We should punish the rest by replacing them with Libertarians the next time round.

I hope the election mattered.
