While we're very happy to have you in the Gulch and appreciate your wanting to fully engage, some things in the Gulch (e.g. voting, links in comments) are a privilege, not a right. To get you up to speed as quickly as possible, we've provided two options for earning these privileges.
Go read something that contradicts what you think, regardless of what that is.
That which does not kill us makes us stronger.

I read Mao's Little Red Book multiple times, Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals", and "Brainwashing in Red China", not because I agree with them, but to see what Rand must have known about communism o understanding where we were headed. Mao read about George Washington, whom he admired as a military man. The Chinese presently read Mahan's "The Importance of Sea Power on History", and heed the advice, which our leaders are not doing.
I had to read Marilyn Manson's autobiography, to learn his songs were influenced by Nietzsche, to show my then teen daughter, he was not independently brilliant, but was using the philosopher's ideas. She turned to philosophy instead.
This is a good thing to watch:

I wonder about the Progressives vs Islamic situation, recognizing that neither group promotes Christianity. Progressive one-worlders are busy homogenizing Christian religion, with a transition to UN Gaia worship as the expected stepping stone to worship of government. Now, I do not see Islam going down that path as are Christian churches blindly doing. At some point there is going to be a major parting of the ways. While Progressives presently advocate Sharia Law in some areas of the US, it is not part of their end game plan. I see some major trouble brewing before it is over.
you are in good company with LS, non-mooch, pirate, kathywiso...
Although I'm not too sure about that author. :)
