That Didn't Take Long Now Did It?
The most surprising thing about this is the fact that I'm not at all surprised.
While we're very happy to have you in the Gulch and appreciate your wanting to fully engage, some things in the Gulch (e.g. voting, links in comments) are a privilege, not a right. To get you up to speed as quickly as possible, we've provided two options for earning these privileges.

"minds [that] do not function." I hold that people are individuals who willingly choose whether their minds will or will not function. Do you agree?
OK Iran, here's the deal...You go ahead with all of the centrifuge research and building that you like. We're going to park a few satellites in GeoSync orbit over you.
Now here's the necessary calculus. A C3 Trident can make the depressed trajectory trip from the central Indian Ocean outer door open to MIRV in, say, 4 1/2 minutes, another 90 seconds from dispersal to detonation over target. Give it another two minutes from orders received to missile spin-up and boat to launch depth.
All of this is to say that should we even sense a test shot somewhere in Iran, the order will be given and in less than 10 minutes, your country will cease to exist. Don't worry though...we have carbide drill bits to get through the green glass that used to be your nation so we can take all of the oil that we want.
Just a modern version of gunboat diplomacy.
Any questions?
Blarman, aside from a pretty huge radioactive tsunami hitting the east coast (assumed) I'm not that sure the full effect of the radiation would do as much damage from 20 miles out. It certainly has potential.
What do you expect from two deeply dishonest people who viscerally detest each other, on the basis of religious prejudice and power thirst?
The radioactive atmosphere from the devastated northern hemisphere is slowly making its way south. They are doomed.
In the novel, as opposed to the 1959 movie they made from it, WWIII started from......the Israeli - Arab War.
I am still weirded out, and this little gem does nothing to help.
Instead a truck, van, cargo container, or some other low tech method that gets the device close enough to be used, but without the limited warning time ICBMs entailed.
I pointedly refuse to believe things are hopeless. I do think that everything is poised to get a hell of lot worse before it can get any better. Eg. WWIII and we (my kids, their kids) will be on the weaker side.
