The website www.USPatterns.com provides the most authoritative presentation. All mints create such items and designers also created patterns for our circulating coins. In the 1870s through 1910s, George Morgan, William Barber, and Charles Barber led the way by competing fiercely against each other for artistic mastery and political patronage.

    Yes, that was the American Numismatic Association. Harry Bass was president of the American Numismatic SOCIETY in NYC and also a gracious contributor to the ANA in Colorado Springs. Bass and Eliasberg competed against each other at auctions for these coins. Although I have been a member of the ANS, the ANA is where I keep my active affiliation.
