Now this is interesting. 16 States want to secede. While some don't want to know anything.

What does this map tell us about the current state of the US.

Realize that this is done based on searches in some time frame. Various states are going to have short term high interest items related to sports, entertainment, or issues in the news.
It is interesting that there are so many instances of secession.
And what's up with Wisconsin wanting to be the mitten state? Everyone knows that's Michigan.

If the data is accurate (big if) it is a little frightening. Suppose the nnames and address of the searcher are also recorded (Do ya think so). Anyone requesting succession could be in big trouble.
All it takes is a simple court order telling Google (or microsoft or any other search engine company) to make them hand over all the data. They don't even need to tell us, even if the order doesn't require silence. I must write myself a note not to use Google search anymore.

      No more so than most poll reports. But doing a 'stealth' poll such as this is interesting to me. I've always been suspect of direct polling questions being used to influence the answers.
