I carry

I am a concealed carry permit holder in my state and I carry a sig p238 an a daily basis. What are the thoughts in the gulch on this topic and if you carry what do you carry?

    I live in Mass, I have a cc and own a business. I have the weapons, but choose not to carry as.

    My state has open carry but I prefer to renew my concealed carry pistol license. My gun friendly sheriff will even send me renew reminders so I can renew exclusively by mail.
    I also prefer to be a nasty surprise instead of the first target to take out in a group.
    I'm now carrying a recently purchased 9mm Sig Sauer P938 pocket pistol in a holster that looks like a wallet in my right front pocket, having moved my real wallet to my left front pocket.
    It's like a miniaturized M1911 with features Old Dino is used to.

    A carry permit can cost several hundred dollars, which many who live in high - crime areas can't afford. So those who need a permit most cannot obtain one. Cruel irony.

    Although i am considering a Glock 30SF .45 cal. 10+1. I have rented one twice at the range and shot well. Based on dimensions i yhink i coukd easily carry the same way.

    In Wyoming, if you can own a pistol, you can carry a pistol, open or concealed. 99% of the time I have my Glock 19 in a Galco paddle holster under my untucked shirt. When I go to a Tea Party function or a rally in the park (4th of July, Veterans's day, etc) I open carry my Taurus 1911 because it is so damn pretty.

    Used to carry a officers model 1911, and thought I would never give it up... and used to be a vehement anti-Glockster. Then I went to the FLAGS (Friendly Local Authorized Gun Store) and the guy behind the counter had a modded Glock 30 in 45ACP he let me try out...

    Worst mistake I ever made. Shoots like a 1/2" hole punch, recoils like a kitten, reliable as all get out, and it fits my hand like a glove. OK, a pair of gloves - LIked the ^#%& thing so much I got a spare. 10 rounds, but it will take the awesome stock 13 round mags (tho, of course, in the People's Free Socialist Demokratik Republik, we would NEVER have such an evil, despicable unauthorized magazine...) and not hiccup once.

    Also have a PPK-S... easier to conceal in a small handbag, not really a fan of .380, but it's better than bringing a butter knife to a gunfight... and as long as you hit what you're aiming at successively and successfully, it will do the job.

    makes sense. which reminds me in thinking back to the same sex marriage use of article four full faith and credit provisions ...have you seen anything like that applied to carry laws? I'm guessing no because it would inevitably lead back to 9th and 10th but the easy out is when you are in another state you must give their laws full faith and credit....a bit of a reach since it didn't apply on the same sex provisions. I'd like to see it go foreward to the Supreme Court though to see if they get around it one way or another. No Mr. President you don't get to ignore it either way. Not until yiou get to be a Supreme Court Justice. Rights not granted was written specifically for people like you.

    Any comments? Conjecture? Wishful thinking?

    My state has open carry. I have always had .357's. At the range a friend loaned me his Glock 9/19 and it was love at first shot.

    P.S. I don't believe in registering dogs or guns.

    I know the p238 is small but I don't want to carry open. I use a sneaky pete and no one hardly notices, I've had a few people ask about it though. I can't find a comfortable concealed carry option for anything bigger.

    Good for you. I haven't carried in a number of years, but when I was younger I worked "Service Stations" and it wasn't uncommon for thieves to eliminate the witnesses. I would be dead twice over had I not carried back then and a lot of people were. It seems that things are getting more tense in Arizona these days, and actually I have been seriously shopping and comparing.

    Attitudes in the Gulch, lets see....

    Some are for carry and some are not.
    I think it is likely a higher "for" percentage than the general population. But that is purely my anecdotal opinion. Attributable more for support of individual rights than gun culture.

    Very few people will tell you if and what they carry on an open forum like this.

    When using mid caliber or less muitions such as the .38 cal. family (9mm, 9mm Kurz or .380, .357, .38 or .38+P) choice of munitions is critical. They aren't particularly long range friendly but then most pistol or revolver is at ten to fifteen feet ranges.

    My favorite still to this day is a long barrel .45 with a .22 kit. and below sub sonic ammunition. B ut i'll take anything I can take.

    Choice of munitions become critical with anything in the .38 caliber family or less is considered. .38, .380, 9mm Kurz, 9mm .38+P or .357 all in that group. Glaser Safety Slugs. SJHPs top the list.

    My particular favorite is the .45 auto long barrel witha .22 adaptor kit and both rounds in less than speed of sound velocities. Keep in mind pistol shoot outs are generally in the ten toi 20 foot plus or minus range distances. I put a lot of that down to lack of proficiency and substandard choice of weapons.

    Which may seem at odds with my present life style but then weapons are not hard to obtain especially if iyou aren''t choosy.

    Except for load out penalty the M29 S&W with the .44 Brass necked to .357 and suppressed rounds would be something I'd like to esxperience Unfortunately in our neck of the woods tunnel rats weren't much needed and i was just a touch to large so I never got the chance.

    For now? Why did you think I'd answer that?

    Sig Sauer makes very good weapons. The go-to vendor for fixed barrel automatics. That particular model is too small to be a good fit for my hands. .380 acp aka 9mm short is a reasonable choice for something that compact.
