Words Have Meanings and Definitions. Some of them are false.
I am constantly stumbling across ways to improve myself. One post asked if I had read all the Ayn Rand books. In checking I found I had not. That error is being corrected courtesy of Amazon, UPS, and our country to country delivery service. I now have the last three OUCH I hate to admit that. But confession is good for the intellect.
Second in reading through some of the material I found Rand was rather fond of the term self esteem. I was not. Not I'm re-learning. Actually I despised and hated it along with the phrase "Good Try." My ex was a school teacher and into all that PC lingo. They did not teach the children they 'served' them as one example. But Good Try was the one size fit's all slogan that covered all sins and it's stated purpose was to ensure self-esteem a phrase and a new definition they used rather than correct Johnny's lack of ability in something and and set Johnny on a path of trying harder. I always felt Johnny would know when it was a good try or a mediocre try. I also saw Johnny lose interest. His grade of Good Try had replaced grades, scores, any sort of goal achievement. Johnny later graduated high school with at best and as currently defined a less than eighth grade education. Went out in the working world and if lucky was handed a broom. Employers except for unions don't like to waste money. Other employees don't like to work without getting paid for it picking up after Johnny. Unions don't care as long as they get their union dues and the help they need in laundering tax dollars into campaign funds.
Along comes a re-reading of one, two, maybe three and it dawned on me all I had to do was pick up a dictionary back when it has four pages of words starting with self and self-esteem is one of them. It doesn't mean good try it means 'confidence and satisfaction in oneself.' Johnny though it meant he could skate through life and besides the teacher didn't real help that much. (Not ALL teachers some teachers.) Next it advised go to self-respect. 1. 'A proper respect for oneself as a human being.' 2. 'A regard for one's standing or position.' It's a place in the scheme of things attained and evidenced by being 'well respected or well thought of by one self or by others.
Self esteem means satisfaction in trying, in the attempt. Self respect is knowing one has tried their best and succeeded.
So I apologize for misspeaking the word.

Somewhat satisfied with that I went to another source ran rght into a wall of sociology and the like and was informed that self esteem is one's armor against the world. I also learned self esteem is not a trait one is born with and low self esteem is one that learned by repetition. So i wasn't entirely wrong.
Now I'll go read what Ayn Rand has to say. I may find out what caused my desire to jump out of perfectly good airplanes. I always thought it was something to do with the extra $55 a month.
Some people still believe in the balanced budget with a surplus or the existence of a two party system of government. Johnny you can do better so let's see if we can help with some extra knowledge or checking your swing (premises). Now there's a real improvement. What's your next goal?
Personally I'm a fan of the fish needs a bicycle story. Instead I changed hooks and casting methods caught and ate the fish and went bicycling.
One of our posters put the ending of my post in different terms. Lacking the ability to think or reason one cannot claim to be part of humanity. At best Humanoid. I didn't use quotes as it isn't exact but it is accurate.
Be aware it is not always possible. There are in this world a lot of forces pushing to do the opposite.

Even good teachers can't "reach" every promising failure. Starvation often can though.
Thats part of the rational reality of the free market.
So are the feds starving our children on purpose. That's then a problem of voting for left wing incompetents.
Maybe the food is not getting to the food banks which is what Department and what part of State Government?
Maybe the food is not getting from the food banks to the children. That means your social programs suck.
Maybe there is no truth to the story. I doubt that but it might just might be reported vastly out of proportion to reality. That's the socialist empire builders and the main stream media
Maybe it's the parents selling the food or not going to the food banks or woofing it down themselves. That would be another set of failed socialist programs.
What free market. With all of the above getting in the act maybe a free market would not be a bad idea.
Now we checked and destroyed all the false premises can aniyone quote any verified figures on children starving in America. In other words give an answer that isn't a contradiction.
Or is starving children a subject barred for anything but subjective propaganda.
Doing a slow burn good teachers can't reach all promising failures for good reason. They are not working under a good system where they teach instead of play paper games.
One of my friends teaches in Florida. They had to fill out three different types of report cards one each student. Just one example. The school though about putting on one admin type to so all the reports for all the teachers. One teacher scrawled I don't understand this and turned them in blank then went back to teaching.
I used this as an example on why that 1994 police reporting system was short of information.
Is it needed? Probably. Is it funded? Ha ha ha

Second Rule Feed our kids first and find out what the glitch in the system is . If you gotta have this socialist stuff at least don't penalize kids. Especially when so much of the delivered foreign aid food gets sold not distributed.

Which reminds me if the quality of food in the school is the same as when I was in grade school i would cheerfully go on a diet. Over boiled Spinach and Macaroni and cheese is not on my list of acceptable menu items.
