    Glad to see him going and hope he will take his useless counterpart in the Senate with him!

    He reportedly was only going to stay for 2
    years but Cantor being voted out changed that
    plan....it's time he went....Johnny, we hardly
    knew ya!

    I'm certainly glad that he's going, but it smacks of "I created a mess, now YOU clean it up". I wish he had done this four years ago.

    Just in time to leave a big mess and walk away.
    Too late to get a special election for his replacement, leaving his district unrepresented for the next year.
    I wonder what the replacement mechanism in place for this under Ohio law is?

    Perhaps. He was facing pressure and a possible challenge to his speaker position . I know a group pushing for impeachment of Obama. Maybe it's going forward and he wants no part of it.

    Maybe the job he wants cannot be applied for from he now is.
    Or, the job he wants has a time consuming application process.

    Perhaps he was instructed by the Pope to fall on the sword? They did meet yesterday, and Boehner was the one who invited him.
