    Once in the long ago, I worked for a private contractor at DFW as a security screener. I really enjoyed the job as one of the jobs was to stand security on British Airways and Lufthansa during the turnaround. One of the perks was to be able to get British newspapers left onboard. From those I gained an appreciation for cricket and rugby (although I have NEVER gained an appreciation for soccer). Knowing my job depended on how well I did it and knowing I was working 'at will', my job performance was as good as I could do it. So much for unionized government workers. Pah!

    TSA Rules don't strip the airplane of weapons already aboard. Box cutters? Under each seat is a shield. What items in quantities can you bring aboard. Enough to spray the eyes of an assailant? Certainly. Shaving kit with a strap at one end and full of soaps makes a nice club. Better yet take off a sock put a bar of soap in it. tie a knot. can't use anklets for this one. with your life jacket shield and chain and ball type club made of soap and a sock. you can't take out a freaking box cutter? The number one weapon is contained right between the left and right ear. It's called a brain. What if hey bring a pistol aboard? How? Is TSA really that inept? which reminds me those shoes they don't like. Hold at the toe end and hit with the heel . High heels really effective. or hands inside and turn them into protected clubs.

    Or just stay out of the way.

    We can dream.

    TSA rules don't stop you from bringing a roll of quarters aboard, which gives a little more weight to a punch. I wonder if things like that and citizens' knowledge of how planes were used as weapons are actually more effective than the TSA.
