Countries are tax farms and the people are the livestock. The government is the farmers. This scenario reduces yield (revenue) a great deal and, therefore, won't be allowed. I kind of dig it. The home is a little rough for my tastes, and I prefer modern plumbing, but what the heck?

Oh, and they'd get you or I out of that house, too. If it were here in America they might gunship it from above.

When I was his age I loved women her age. Actually...I still do....

It's just practice for when they actually need to build a house after Society's collapse !

That's a really well-built house. The way they used plates to tie together the walls and joists means that that house is really strong despite its look.

I congratulate them on their derring-do, though I do have to question - why not just get the stupid permit? That would definitely be good material for a second story IMO.

Did the neighbors really start a petition in order to get rid of their home? Come on... Such a beautiful house, and they put so much work into it.

This really is the age of envy, I suppose.

Well, I for one would not get a building permit either. And if some pencil-neck paper-pusher told me to tear it down, I would tell him to go practice safe sex. They only way that house would come down is in a Waco style scenario where the state comes in with guns and tanks and incinerates the place and all the innocent people who live there.
Building permits may have some purpose in certain areas, but generally they are nothing more than a means to tax and control people. It is against my policy to get permits for anything.

That's a great point. No moderation. The reason there is no moderation is that it would require thought. That has been removed from most(all) government agencies.

It isn't for me. My wife would not be happy. They seem happy enough with it though and they are harming or endangering no one but themselves... There is always some busy body trying to force their will on others... Liberty haters... bureaucratic paper pushers not getting their permit fees...

I think neighbors got nervous when they began promoting having weekend workshops in green building. IT's always bad once the govt gets involved. They just don't care. No moderation in those kind of decisions.

What surprises me is that this is out where no one has to look at it. If it was in a plan of other homes I would understand but forcing them to tear it down seems extreme.

I like the house and I applaud what they did. It is somewhat ironic that the rules they violated were probably put in place by left wing people like themselves. Not sure why they don't just give them the permits they need.
