1. Friday afternoon, while leaving school for the day, I ran into a student's Dad that I hadn't seen in a while. He and his wife have always been super polite to me over the years and it was good to see him. He asked where I've been working this years since he hadn't seen me around so I told him that I was only working part time in Kindergarten this year and that I had given up my other duties because this is my last year at the school. He seemed surprised and asked if I was retiring...I explain that I was quitting because I didn't like where the schools were headed with all of this common core junk. He said, "What is that?" I said, "Common Core Curriculum is the government calling the shots for ALL schools, that's what's coming down the pike and I want NOTHING to do with it...I don't understand why anyone is okay with the government running schools." His response surprised me. He said, "Yeah, when has that EVER worked?" (A spark!!! Seeing a spark in another is so rare and I was so surprised.) I said, "Exactly! Do we learn NOTHING from history? I can't even believe this is happening." Our conversation continued for a bit. Turns out they are pulling their son out of school soon to enroll him in an online school (he told me this only after I had said I was going to stay home and home school my grandson... I think he was testing the waters with me just like I was testing the waters with him. ) He went on to tell me about a friend of his in CA is going to go out of business and leave CA because the regs and taxes are killing his company and he's had enough.. he mentioned reading about a teacher who conducted a socialist experiment with his class about spreading the grade wealth around, to be fair, so the A students would have to give some of their grades to the D students to bring their grades up. He said, "After a while A students realize what's the point in making the effort if it's only going to be taken to give to someone who isn't trying."
He said he is sad and is afraid for his son because he is not growing up in the America that we grew up in..... I told him that "part of the reason why I was quitting was because, although I'm not an 'educated' person, I educate myself and I've worked with "educated" people for the last ten years and cannot, no matter how I try, to get ANY of them to have a conversation like the one we're having right now. And I'm disgusted that no one wants to have this discussion." So at the end of our conversation he and his wife got a Galt card with the AS movie website on it...I also asked if they had Netflix because part I and II is on there (I explained quickly what it's about and who wrote it) and he said, "I will check that out. Thanks." YES!!

2.) A few hours later one of my husband's friends came over and he was wearing a "Come and Take IT!" T-shirt. He got a card too.

3.) This morning my husband had to run to the corner store and get some oil and as he was paying the cashier said, "Wait. You're not leaving until I read your shirt. He was wearing the one that says, "WE WILL ALL BE FREE, when no one lays claim to another's property or life in the name of the 'Greater Good'."

The cashier then said, "Hmmm I really like that." My husband said, "Well then, my wife will really like THIS." And he pulled a Galt Card out of his wallet and handed it to her. Asked if she had ever read Atlas Shrugged and suggested she do so.

That's 3 cards in one weekend folks!

Good job Shrug. I loaned my ASI DVD to a sales rep friend of mine. He enjoyed but he was disappointed that no one else would watch it with him. I had a customer take a card the other day while I was helping someone else. I saw him pick it up, smile and the put it in his pocket.

I was a little surprised Rob could not find someone to watch the DVD. He is like us and I assume he asked those of like minds. One mind at a time. Glad to see you in here. :-)
