I was pretty good at lashing shit together. and building a fire in wet woods. I taught a gazillion little 8 year olds how to swim. and I drove a beat up old truck with a trailer on the back that housed 10 canoes. I drove then to a lake about 20 minutes away and had to back that trailer down the dock. I'm not sure my parents ever knew I did that. Counselors had camp names. Mine was Twitcher because I never could make myself stand still during flag ceremonies. The most dramatic thing that happened at camp was when I was 16 and counselor in training. the night before some mad man had broken out of prison and murdered three girl scouts in a camp. so they decided to have us take turns watching all night long. we had radios, but that was it. the nights were long, and frankly I was scared wittless.
