Reading "Alongside Night"

I was into the first couple chapters when my Kindle got ripped off. Then, my wife got me a new Kindle Fire for Christmas and now I'm back into the book, Alongside Night. About 1/3 into it, I am finding it interesting. Fun to read. I laughed out loud today when reading the description of the typical television shows that are supposed to be on the air at the time of the novel...a President healer, an ape professor...just total garbage. Reminded me of Idiocracy's "Ow, My Balls" show. Then...I had an idea. What if somebody wanted to create either a show or entire network of shows spoofing our stupid future. Air things like the PSA government warning people that owning gold could cost them 25 in the slammer, Ow My Balls, a show about an ape that flies a fighter jet, etc... I'd watch it.

Just finished the book today. I found it entertaining and thought-provoking. It describes a revolution with surprisingly little bloodshed. I appreciate that take.

Really? That sucks. If somebody's going to be an ass, they better be damn good at what they do...

I am enjoying the book. Just this morning I was describing it to a friend and said, "In the story things start to collapse and the government reacts by arresting....uh...people with my views. Hahaha!"

Reason 3, 237 not to own a TV but worth a point up for reminding me how much I do not miss the boob tube.
