It is no wonder the average person has no idea what is going on.

While we're very happy to have you in the Gulch and appreciate your wanting to fully engage, some things in the Gulch (e.g. voting, links in comments) are a privilege, not a right. To get you up to speed as quickly as possible, we've provided two options for earning these privileges.
Who is the winner? I think it's the referee.
I'm sitting in the waiting room with a bunch of people when this giddy blonde appears with some kinda paperwork in hand and asks, "Is Mr. Allosaurus ("different lizard") here?"
She asks if I was interested in trading cars.
Being kinda bored despite my paperback novel and liking the company of a pretty blonde (despite her seeming a bit eccentric and way too young for me) I said I'll go look.
She handed me over to a sales guy. Crud!
He showed me a couple of brand new cars before I stated that I might be interested in seeing used cars one year old.
He said, "I thought you told Miss What's Her Name you were interested in a brand new car for the same monthly payment."
I said, "No, I didn't."
I wound back up in the waiting area but only had to wait like two minutes before I was told my car was ready.
At least I was not bored during all that silly business.
Should that happen again . . .bwahaha!
I did it differently. I looked at the sticker and the blue book figured my best offer subtracted 30% and after a test drive with a stop by my mechanics locaton made an offer. BUT up front I asked point blank you make the deal? As soon as they said they had to get approval from the back room I gave them the M2F salute and said....you work commission don't you? Explain zero to your wife tonight.
If they upped the price I would counter bid lower. Drove them up the wall.
I bought my last three cars using that method. It was fun!
