The LockDown of The West Continues.

On Friday, Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell announced a 3 year moratorium on coal leases on "federal" lands. With her for the photo-op was Republican sellout rinos, Governor Sandoval of Nevada, and Governor Mead of Wyoming. Recall, these two governors in particular were responsible for the Trojan Horse "non-listing" of the Greater Sage Grouse last year. For which the Approved Resource Management Plans will devastate the rural Western economies. And now this.

The War on The West is now in all out conflagration leading into this "hopefully" final year of naked federal tyranny. That is, unless Rino's prevail.

I know well what this does to the Powder River Basin economy. I used to work directly for the mentioned Colin Marshall of Cloud Peak Energy while it was still Rio Tinto Energy. This will specifically decimate the economies from Douglas, Wyoming on up to Gillette. But the downstream effect to all the jobs in the transporting of coal, the power plants, the energy grid and right into the homes of America, will be catastrophic.

Colin Marshall is quoted: “The administration has chosen to pander to special interest groups and do their bidding.” Right on.

    As far as "federal land" goes I would, to the first approximation, open it all to auction and to a modernized Homestead Act. All auction proceeds go to pay of the federal debt.

    Understood exactly.

    I have been out of the coal business since 2008. No contacts anymore. After 7 years doing geotechnical work in the Powder River Basin, I returned to Nevada in the gold mining industry, where I had previously spent 15 years.

    For lack of a more accurate term, it's a system that uses catalysts, and I can't reveal any details as there are ongoing negotiations with prospective partners. Yes, we are in R & D. If you represent a potential partner I may be able to arrange an introduction.

    I wonder what we would hear if Trump were asked what is the best policy of the public lands. Not just public land policy as determined by the feds, but also in context of the alternative of passing them to the States with traditional mechanisms of disposal being adopted by the States should they choose to do do.

    Interesting. Does that process involve reducing moisture content in the coal? Moisture affects BTU's.

    Regimes with lower governmental interference! What a concept.

    Maybe you can generically describe who We are? Sounds like an R&D outfit?

    Elect Trump. He will be the target for what follows but can stand it. Elect majorities in Congress aligned with Trump. Repeal ACA, build XL Pipeline, fast track coal and nuke power.

    I don't think they would see it. To see it would expose them to the fact that in order to increase renewables you will necessarily have to increase, if only temporarily, usage and reliance on oil, coal, and natural gas based energy. That would risk then realizing the faultiness of their claims regarding renewables' capabilities.

    Sage grouse are also commonly called sage hens or sage chickens.

    And consider that so much is pulled off in the name of "the environment". What is it we are talking about here? The head of a pin can be called an environment and a wilderness. Everybody's gut is an environment with a complex "ecosystem" of biota.

    Wilderness is supposed to be a pristine "intact" ecosystem. There is no such thing. Wilderness starts just beyond the edge of the shoulder in the road. "The environment" is invoked to justify any socialist rip-off.

    Look up Pacchamama Alliance. They have their yearly convention this week. I am afraid of what they will come up with next.

    They are also an organization to model for grassroots viral activism - if it were used, for, let's say, Alex Epstein's Moral Case for Fossil Fuels, or his Energy Initiative.

    PERC had a great newsletter last month that had an extensive set of articles on free-market environmentalism, including a multi-page spread about the sage "sea." It was informative and even hopeful. If y'all aren't on their newsletter list, it is valuable.

    The environment. The holy grail of lefties. It's a fall back whenever their stupid arguments fail to impress. Everyone wants to have clean air and water, and preservation of native flora and fauna. But, NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF PUTTING FOOD ON THE TABLE and a roof overhead. The well-being of humanity comes first. Everything else falls below that in various degrees of importance. The left cries over the supposedly 33 million Americans living in poverty, and then performs actions which impoverishes people. I think the word for that is -- knucklehead.

    You are so right, the coal industry is quite complex and made more so by government edicts. We have been working on a coal process for about 8 years that currently wrings an extra 20% energy out of the coal, but it has been a real challenge to get the coal fired power industry to accept the results. All our testing has been done (out of necessity) in regimes with lower government interference, i.e., places where there is more equal opportunity corruption.

    I believe two coal mines have been shut near me in western Colorado.
    At what point do those adversely affected by all of this join the ranks of those in Oregon?
    If i weren't living through this period in America and was just told about it I wouldn't believe that a single man with the title president of the usa could get away with destroying what WAS the greatest country in the world ever. The separation of powers does not exist as was prescribed in the constitution. And those who were elected to be 1/3rd of that power structure from my perspective gave up their position a long time ago, so for someone like 0 stepping in to initiate these negative changes wasn't as far fetched as one would think. So the blame is not only 0 but every member of the congress, they are all in league.
    As soon as the ability to heat homes, shortage of food develops then the revolution will more than likely start.
