I know this is very late, but I just finished watching AS3 and simply had to vent about the casting.

First and foremost, the complete change of cast from each part of the series to the next. ARE YOU %^&*IN' KIDDING ME?!! This is a travesty! You just don't do this when making a movie in parts. Imagine if in the Hunger Games films, Jennifer Lawrence had been replaced by Jennifer Garner in the second movie, and Jennifer Lopez in the third. If you can't get at least the main actors under contract for the whole series, don't even start.

And if you must change actors, can't you keep a shred of continuity? Samantha Mathis (Dagny in part 2) is 14 years older than Taylor Schilling (Dagny, part 1), looks all of that and more. Laura Regan is 7 years younger than Mathis. Someone watching the movies without having read the book is going to think they somehow got out of order.

Then there's Galt. John Galt is a man who has the force of character to convince captains of industry--hundreds of them--to walk out on their companies and join his strike. I don't know who they could have gotten who projects that kind of charisma, but there's got to be someone fresh out of drama school somewhere who'd do it better than Kris Polaha.

Polaha would be fine in the right role, which for him would be Eddie Willers. Willers represents "the best of the average man"--diligent, competent, reliable and honest, but not a genius, innovator or leader. But of course Polaha couldn't play Willers, because they made him a black man in Part 1, and at least kept that much continuity through the series.

Which brings me to another peeve. One black character in the whole movie, and he's basically Dagny's stooge? The setting is supposed to be the present or near future, not 1957; those bureaucrats shouldn't all be old white guys. And why not a black or two among the striking industrialists? Any of the actors who played Eddie Willers would have made a perfectly good Ken Danagger.

Plenty of actors can do the job well. There are hundreds of excellent character actors that aren't in support of looters.
Hollywood chooses talent based on liberal politics all the time. That is how the looters and socialists get free publicity and lots more sheeple votes. If you don't fight back the war will be lost,

I only watched the pilot episode, and I didn't have a problem with any of the things you mentioned. My issue was primarily how un-badass she was. I mean, she's Super girl! Act it!

Have you watched Interstellar? Chastain is Dagny Taggart in the film.

She's shown to be highly devoted to her work(physics), holds up one half of the film, and plays the hero. I think what she portrays the best is the sense of life that Dagny should have.

The show was greenlit because the studio said they needed "diversity". Flash and Arrow air on another network, which refused supergirl because it was a very risky project, and they had a lot of money in it.

To attract the tumblr crowd (SJW feminist types) they changed supergirl's uniform to make it more "comfortable to look at" and "respectful to women". They include a "smash the patriarchy"-esque plot in every episode, and every villian is a white male while every love interest is a black male. These are all intentional. They changed Jimmy Olsen to a muscular black man from a teenage, lanky white dude. These shows are all for appeasing the mob mentality and to make a few quick bucks.

"Blackwashing" a role now results in instant media attention and is taken as a sign of progressive action.

i'm ok with Morgan Freeman a similar choice would have been James Earl Jones..now 84. I think he's fully retired. I wonder if Denzel Washington is old enough perhaps to fill those shoes? Can't think of any other but the basic idea works for me.

I assume by the above you have your own actor or real-life analogue to portray Judge Narragansett.

By the way, I see no reason, other than maybe his name (and that's no absolute bar), why Judge Narragansett must be white. Morgan Freeman springs to mind. It might not have worked in 1957, but it would today. Remember: Rand didn't intend to tie AS to any particular historical period.

that's the role of Dagny.. I'm speaking of something different. An example of being true to the book but different. Perhaps the multiple character roles as flash backs or looks forward. But using one actress to portray more than one character is ...a challenge that demands the best of the best.

It's rather Dylanesque Dejavu remembering fans trying to force him to become a statute in time.

Give creativity it's due with caveat. If he f's it up as they did to Starship Troopers I shall boycott for the rest of my life. Being true to the philosophy is not open for artistic license. Expressing those philosophical points in episodes or vignettes is another story.

True but I'm thinking of different roles and their superb acting abilities. You might remember Joe And The Volcano where Meg Ryan played three different parts. I thought of the same idea for Foster. A series of cameo but each making her look different enough and is an accomplished director and producer herself. Age 52 just shy of 70 because she was born into the business and because she can.

His comments about whether it will stay true to the book-

As for concerns about faithful Rand fans objecting to any liberties he might take with the book, Mr. Ruddy said he had none.

“If you can reimagine the Old Testament and the New Testament,” he said, “why can’t I reimagine Ayn Rand?”

    Aren't both of them old?

I chose Jessica Chastain because her character in Interstellar was very similar to Dagny Taggart, and she portrayed it well.

Getting good actors for it is the only problem.

Ayn Rand told Albert Ruddy that he could make Atlas Shrugged "Over her dead body".

    He just got the rights.

Kevin Spacey is the enemy. No comfort (or acting contracts) for the enemy.
“President Obama will go down as having passed some of the most historic bills in the history of this country,” Spacey told Hot Press magazine in a recent interview. “That despite constant knee-jerk opposition from the Republicans. A lot of people don’t realize how much he’s done in the most difficult of circumstances.”
    $%^# Kevin Spacey!
