Your current Gulch score:
They haven't repealed Obamacare despite specific promises to do so.
They haven't balanced the Budget despite specific promises to do so. (Just look at the one they just published today - more of the same)
They haven't defunded Obama's selective enforcement on immigration.
And many more.
Senator Cruz: tell the Establishment Republicans that they have bigger problems than him: the will of the American voter.
Darn, that alone is reason to like him.
(Dole definitely has the right surname.)
Don't highjack the thread, just post your own thread if you have evidence of Cruz lying. Might be an interesting topic.
Its the god-fearing Texan against the insultingest tv looter.
Not rational to support either of the disgusting jerks
Cruz never said that Carson had dropped out. A campaign official forwarded the CNN news report (not article) that Carson was going back to Florida instead of campaigning right before the NH primary. Other supporters apparently described that as a leave of absence (still true), and then others magnified it into believing he was dropping out -- as they all tried to get votes to switch, as they always do. Rubio supporters did the same thing.
Rubio pretended that his campaign would never do anything like that as he adopted a phony holier than thou righteousness to further attack Cruz. What a circus.
It became more bizarre when Carson said he was only going to Florida for a change of clothes. Who goes from Iowa to Florida to change his clothes? What a circus.
Trump further escalated this into a nonsensical accusation of 'vote fraud' by Cruz and demanded another election, as he publicly smeared Cruz himself for being a "liar" and for "dirty tricks". And that is what showed up in the "news" and has been spread ever since, including the sensationalizing headlines about a "shameless whisper campaign". Mud sticks. Especially Trump mud. What a circus.
But none of it make Cruz a "liar", and contrary to Trump, who had viciously smeared Carson, this minor corner of the circus based on a misunderstanding didn't make any difference to the Iowa results.
Cruz's subsequent apology for what had ultimately spread out of the campaign has been converted into an admission of guilt. What a circus.
Those with the least interest in ideas in their pursuit of a free-for-all cage match are the first to to become hysterical in their substitute for a campaign of ideas -- by both partisan activists and in the media reporting.
Ayn did not, however, say that "statist ideas need to play out until they collapse society before enough people" will create a "truly free society". She emphasized repeatedly that the political course of a society depends on the dominant ideas. The progression of statism can only be reversed with better ideas more popularly accepted. Without that it will collapse the society, but the recovery is not automatic. Without the better ideas there will be no replacement with a free society, only different versions of the statist-collectivist mess with no protection for rational individualists or anyone else.
Venezuela has collapsed in AS fashion, the ideas of individualism are certainly available to them, but the people stick to socialism so far. One wonders how much farther the economy must fall there to open peoples' eyes. Do they have to be actually starving in the streets. Or Does it just take a strong leader reading a speech as in AS to change a culture such as theirs. interesting questions
A precinct captain supporting the senator, who identified herself as Nancy Bliesman, produced two voicemails she received from the campaign telling her to tell Carson supporters he was leaving the race.

A pair of emails sent to Iowa Cruz backers by the campaign's digital marketing specialist Spence Rogers just before and after caucus time were titled 'Carson Likely to Drop Out' and 'CNN Reporting Ben Carson Will Stop Campaigning After Iowa.'
It is just what appears to still be truth: Cruz's people did do it. They used CNN (used CNN? Really? What a reliable source) to justify their action. They did not verify it, they did what HillaryBeast loves to do: use something for their purpose and then blame someone else. That is enough for me. Again, let me stress I do not find Trump even remotely satisfactory. I am sure a whole bunch of people who vote for him do not. It is like finding the least stinky monkey turd in a zoo. The system is killing itself in a fit of self absorb greed to grab their bit of power, and refuses to do what they were established to do, the sheeple quotient ensures no one can get a majority, and the lies and dirty tricks sabotage most efforts at any restraint. So, in light of the fact we have no Warp Drive Starship to get off this crappy rock, what better options are there? I would like to scrap the whole mess and have a new Constitutional convention, disband the House Senate and Executive (and Scotus) and start all over with a prohibition on serving more than 4 years in any position and no retirement or benefits for those that do. Make it hurt to serve. Fixed amounts for election, based on voluntary funding by the people to a fund, and if there is only one dollar in the fund, and 4 candidates, they each get a quarter and hope they have a lot of shoes to wear. I am tired of the lies, deceit, looting, grabbing, stealing, misappropriation and theft.
But like Freedom said, do not hijack this thread do your own.
Start your own thread on that topic if you want to discuss it.
The government needs to be held to the rule of law, as found in our constitution...we don't get out of this, or save the Republic...any other way.
GOP establishment AKA RINOs, AKA right wing of the left?
Want our help with votes? Better apologize. Since you can't lead, either follow or get out of the way.
The data would say that its rather close between Cruz and Hillary but Trump looses big between the too.
When Bob Dole said "We can live with Trump for a few months before we can live with Cruz for 4 years." it made it very clear that he did not think Trump could win, but he would rather thrpw the election to the democrats than get Cruz as president.
These are the facts of what the polls show and what Dole reflected in his comments. Nothing more and nothing less.
The only indicator we have are polls.
IMHO, I think trump has a chance to win Hillary and that scares the crap out of me. Trump is the worst candidate to run in my life time.
The thing I hate most about Obama is that he is a tyrant. If he cannot get what he wants he will do it by executive order. He has an agenda to do what he wants, and seeks to achieve something. I disagree with him, but he has something he works for.
Trump has said he will be a tyrant
"Apple and all of these companies will be making their products in the united states." - Donald Trump earlier this week. Sounds very Thomson to me. Very totalitarian, and not what I want. I want someone that will move in the direction of getting the government out of the way, not promise even more tyranny. I do not want a tyrant, even one I agree with.
Trump is a tyrant any way you slice it. His history says it, his own words say it. It about as nonobjective as could be to support this guy if you believe in the mind and the individual.
I gave you a +1 as its a legitimate argument.
Polls have too many hidden agendas behind them to be trusted.
The establishment also doesnt want Trump or Cruz actually.
They wanted Rubio, but that was not to be.
Maybe they should leave it up to the voters.
The major issue with fighting Hillary is that she is promising everything to everyone, and paying for it from the magical money tree in the backyards of the rich. Its hard to tell the populace that you arent going to do that and have them vote for you. Trump has tapped into a dissatisfaction and anger out there that just might let him win. Cruz unfortunately doesnt offer much to the looters, and doesnt offer too much to the people who are disillusioned and angry.
Obama - Cant get my way, Executive Order.
Trump has clearly stated he will do the same thing.
There are some executive orders that would get rid of obama exec orders that I would like to see taken actually.
Trump reduces everything to the lowest level of school yard taunting, which only gives Hillary an opening to appear better than she is as the progressive media dominance crushes him by pretending to by civilized. They have already started that, with Trump's obliging help.
Much of the "master politics" is not in any one individual, but the party machines where the "pros" know how to manipulate and how to "get out the vote" from known supporters. That is the part that is the mechanics of it, out of the intellectual realm of appealing to political principles, and was especially exploited by Obama twice.
1) the polls that show high negative ratings fly in the face of my personal experiences. I find that there is some reluctance to openly admit supporting trump, a lot of people will express enthusiastic support for trump after they look around to see if no one is listening
2) trump is offering to free people from political correctness and offering to let them be who they are. This is one reason for the establishment hatred of him. He isn't under establishment control like Hillary. I think this is trumps big attraction. He is offering freedom from establishment intellectual slavery. He doesn't do it by intellectual arguments but by visceral appeals to how the establishment has messed things up- which people know to be true. He is offering leadership because he has been obviously successful
3) Cruz is offering a more intellectual approach buts based on the constitution which most people don't understand. Also he sounds like a southern preacher who is part of the political establishment also he doesn't have the commanding presence of Reagan or trump.
4) Hillary has handlers I agree. They tell her what to say and she appeals to the uneducated and entitled people who want freebies they don't have to earn. Her contributors give her money to get elected in exchange for favors when she is presudent

Trump can take a good thing and make it crap in 2 nanoseconds, he does need a someone who has a large foot to stick in his mouth when he starts pontificating about Meggy Kelly and other odd dream states. I would prefer to see "Are you better off today than 8 years ago?" used. to gauge sentiment.
Most people find Trump disturbing no doubt. But Cruz's abuse of special groups and desperate attempts to make people think he is the only messiah in town, stink.
Additionally, the talking heads that say he just needs to tone down his rhetoric and Act more Presidential seem to think that makes him a different person. It just proves him to be what is wrong with other chameleonic politicians.
he is a tyrant, he wants to be king. I seek no king. Anyone for Trump wants a Tyrant King becuase Trump himself has made it clear that is what he will be.
In a sense, all we could really hope for is washington gridlock where nothing could be agreed on (because agreeing seems to means massive governmental power increase and taxation)
Lets say trump does everything that you and I would both like to see happen. What does that reinforce for the next guy to do?
A part of why Obama had so much power was becuase Reagan did many of the same things for the right reasons. Now the president has even more power. Lets say Trump is wonderful and does good things. How much more power does the president now have for the next Obama?
If trump exercises the tyrant powers we are worse off no matter what he chooses to do.
I do not want anyone that will further expand the powers of the executive branch, for stuff I believe in or stuff I do not.
I do think that as the brainwashed young people make up more and more of the electorate that we will become officially a socialist nation and follow the path of Venezuela. Here we have an avowed socialist (Sanders) actually doing pretty well in the election- its scary.
Trump stands in the way of the establishment, which is why they hate him. That doesnt sound like the use of tyrant powers actually. The Congress is the body that is really pushing us towards socialism- they voted for Obamacare after all. Obama just signed it. Hillary would have signed it. Trump would not have.
I want to turn around, or go over fast. The worst case is meandering around and slowing the advance a little.
Secondly, the length of time a socialist regime can stay going is dependent on the amount of wealth there is for it to survive on. The US is still very rich with a lot of wealth to be expropriated yet. It will take awhile for that wealth to be squandered on welfare and other stupid programs.
Check out Venezuela. Socialist to the hilt, and the people are still socialist and support that idiot Maduro in spite of the incredible collapse of the economy. They were rich with oil, but cant even get it out of the ground because of the results of socialism !!
You and I are only going to live for so long. Do you want to spend the rest of your life in a country in a death spiral with more and more government controls on you? I sure dont.
Things will eventually crash for sure no matter who gets into the white house or congress. The die is cast. But it will be easier to live and spread the word while the country is still functioning.
So I say it does matter if we drive slowly towards a cliff or fast. Especially if the driving slowly might give a chance to figure some way to stop the car before it goes over.
1) Doesnt increase governmental powers in terms of terrorists
2) Stops prosecuting people for simple drug possessions (most importantly for weed)
3) Gets rid of asset seizures
4) Gets out of Iraq and Afghanistan
5) Leaves minimum wages alone
6) Stops climate change carbon taxes
Not a lot ? yeah right.
If I was king I think I would be assassinated in a day for doing all these things I suppose.
Eminent domain has been blessed by SCOTUS already unfortunately and won't be gotten rid of at this point.
As far as who would get us farther into the never to be repealed socialist programs- it's Hillary. If trump doesn't win, we get Hillary. If trump isn't the nominee, we get Hillary. If trump wins, we get a little reprieve from increasing socialism for a few years.
None of the candidates are John galt nor could John galt be elected before massive education of the populace was achieved
How about reversing course and gaining on Conservative values & goals? There's only one candidate that can get us there. His initials T.C. You'll find him listed as one of the remaining nominees vying for the Republican party's blessings this June.
Trump's about as conservative as Mitt Romney was.. maybe less-so, in my opinion. I held my nose to vote Romney last time around, I can probably do it again for Trump, but Trump is far from where Cruz is on the conservative scale. And he, like John Galt, IS getting a good portion of the nomination votes thus far.
Unfortunately, statism is advancing quickly and isn't going to be reversed anytime soon without massive re-education first. Cruz with his return back to constitutional values is just not a message a majority wants to hear now. In my politically incorrect view, only trumps widespread appeal to the voters who are angry at washington for various reasons has enough support to topple the support of Hillary. I wish it wasn't so pivotal an election, but I think it's the last one before the statists are in complete control of the majority of voters. As time goes on, the younger socialist leaning voters will overcome the older conservative voters ( who are slowly dying off). Think about it
In Iowa, all the polls had Trump winning from between 4% and 15%. Trump came in 2nd.
The Trump-bots will come and scream that Ted stole that caucus; if Trump had anything concrete, he'd be more than happy to sue for voter fraud, I'm sure.
"Cruz with his return back to constitutional values is just not a message a majority wants to hear now."
The problem is, Cruz hardly gets ANY air time compared to Trump. Its very hard to hear anything Cruz has to say. One must resort to social media to hear / see Cruz's message.
Yes, I've thought about it. Thank you.
SCOTUS is a disaster already without another Obama appointee
None of the remaining Rep candidates are my first choice, but they're all better than any current or potential Dem nominee ( in the event HRD is indicted ) . In the social media / Kardashianian world we all now live in, Trump is working the media, politics, etc like a Svengali. I'm happy to see the GOP establishment metaphorically 'blown up' and am gleefully watching them all running around with their hair on fire b/c they see their corrupt crony capitalism train ( hopefully ) coming to an end since DT won't take any of their donations and therefore ( hopefully ) he won't be beholden to any of them. But I do keep in mind the old saying " be careful what you wish for."
Cruz is one of their own, pure establishment through and through. So is his wife. Cruz is a lying, cheating, underhanded, religious nut case who uses his bible to justify all his heinous behavior. Government and politics should be religion-free zones, be Cruz, like Bush, takes orders from his imaginary friend in the sky.
Certainly it is no secret the few whistle blowers who have exposed the corruption have been excommunicated, denigrated, or suffered terrible accidents. Even people outside the System (like Wikileak’s Assange) who risk all to expose the documents of our rulers are treated as criminals or traitors and not the heros they are.
Donald Trump is now broadcasting these truths. In doing so he is encouraging free speech, a freedom which has been on a losing streak for decades. He has been an insider until now and now he exposes how the top politicians lust for power is funded by their corporate contributors in return for political favors, both above and below the table.
Few of us favor corruption and this issue has aroused excitement among Americans across the whole political and religious spectrum, from the communist-socialists, the welfare-statists, Christians, Atheists, Constitutional libertarians and anarchists.
This is the heart of the Trump Political Movement.
I disagree with Trump about many major issues, but we I hope he can expose corruption from the inside and help bring it to an end. Trump is a negotiator, and many of the issues he touts are shown to achieve the exact opposite of what he wants, he will change. At worst, it will be a new gang and it will take time for them to become entrenched.
