I live in the area of the State capitol of California. Here in the valley we have many areas that look like zombie movies. Later in the day, into the evening you can see people just wandering aimlessly just like zombies in the movies...just staggering in random directions, hunched over, dragging their feet. Years ago it would have been called the "thorozine shuffle" I think. A lot of them are all pockmarked with sunken cheeks. It could be meth, or this stuff. They're everywhere around here.

I see people like this and, honestly, I feel a deep sadness. At one point they emerged from their mama's womb with their whole life ahead of them. And, they decide to screw it all up. It's a tragedy. Just late yesterday there was a young lady who possessed some real physical beauty at my local gas station begging for gas or cash. She appeared to be early 20s. I thought of my little daughter. As an Objectivist I'm really bothered by a life tossed onto the skids...

That's a nice story.
