First thing I thought of was to ask about a Xerox machine. Xerox, like Scotch tape has become a Generic term.

The guy was coached on the phrases to use, but the Judge didn't put himself in the shoes of this guy.

This is an example of why NONE OF US including myself can communicate well with each other, especially in arguments about Politics and Philosophy. We get lost and caught up in definitions and never seem to ask the other person to clarify what they mean until it is too late.
