The one employee laid off was probably a Republican.

Yes. The only thing the government is supposed to provide for is the common defense so states don't have to run around protecting themselves from outside attack. And since that seems to be the one job they refuse to do, witnessed by our bleeding borders, it should all be turned over to private enterprise. And while I'm ranting, why do all the senators and reps still have to live in DC...what is wrong with skyping and teleconferencing?

Like I've said at least a 100 times before, Democrats and Liberals can and will say anything they want to say whether it's true or just an outright lie because there are no consequences. Hopefully the majority of Americans will realize where this is taking us, and will know how to vote this November, and the coming November of 2016. Some will never get it, and will not accept any of the facts until the are personally hurt by the lies.

....And you thought Godzilla was big.
Washington DC is both the wealthiest and poorest of areas in the country. It is inhabited by and elite group that supposedly represents the people of a republic. The entire district is a lie, in that they no longer represents anyone, except themselves, and the country is no longer a republic.

It would be reasonable if it cut total government spending and regulation burden to less than 10% of GDP.

The only employer that hasn't had substantial layoffs in the last 50 years is the federal government. Can you say "diet"?

Even if people did lose their jobs, I'm a huge supporter of losing jobs, even apart from my support for cutting spending. I just think it's good to shake things up a bit. You don't want to get to retirement and find you got the same one year's experience 40 years in a row. It's good to shake things up. There are so many interesting things to do in the world. It's bad to be in a rut.

After the financial crash in 2008 I thought anyone who was making a salary from taxpayers should take a 20% cut in pay. That would have eased the burden on all of us. The sequester was called draconian. Now we see it was fair and reasonable.
