"The concept of free competition enforced by law is a grotesque contradiction in terms. It means: forcing people to be free at the point of a gun." - Ayn Rand

Yet in order to 'be free', one must deny those that would take their sustenance, or more, from the 'free' individual, and must do that denial with individual self defensive force. Rational reason must be asserted in the face of those that refuse to use reason, even though that means 'the point of a gun' in the face of those that believe they can choose other means.

So, in a very real way, by denying the taker his taking at 'the point of a gun', we are forcing the 'taker' to be free 'at the point of a gun', but rather than by law, it is accomplished by rights. Too many of us forget, or don't realize that fact. All gov't can do is apply 'retributory' force after the fact.
