Mercury One is always the first responders in America. FEMA is always the Last, if at all!

The flooding damage in West Virginia is on par with Katrina.

The friends should have anticipated something like this, but if it was a real unexpected thing, and you want to help them, thats fine with me.

I am just tired of the entitled people just reaching into my pocket all the time using guilt to fix their problems. I am also very tired of the bums looking for a free handout. Its hard to have any sympathy for people when you are bombarded all the time by people looking to escape personal responsibility.

It's not your problem but if it happened in your neighborhood I am sure you'd pitch in...that's what it is all about. Others outside the area, if so moved and with whatever one has in abundance may wish to help...no one is pointing fingers, just making others aware of the event. I myself didn't think it was that bad...now that I do,( and I have friends in the area),l have chosen to do what I could...simple stupid right?

Not to be unkind but my first thought in reading the title was. Hillary and Trump are campaigning in WVA? Then I doubled my donation and added an apology.

I no longer give to charities or help in these "emergencies". People need to learn to live where disasters dont happen, OR plan for them themselves. Its not politically correct to say this, but I missed the part about how its MY problem.

Hope their Ok. I often wondered if during the rebuilding process that if some of these homes and businesses couldn't be relocated to higher ground further away from these rivers or low lying areas. Would seem to be a smart thing to do if possible.

One would hope that we could persuade a significant number of people of the basic truth of it, and cut out all the arguments regarding religion, politics, manipulation etc, and just get to the basic "do the right thing" ethic.

And That is what America is all about...helping each other if and when we can without the help or interference of government. Self ruling, self leaders.

I saw it in a news article, where they had cleaned out their warehouse in a couple of days. People doing good things need support, unlike our government...

OK Carl, I donated 25.00. Those people have a terrible mess to deal with, I had also contributed 25.00 to a food bank that had run dry, that was on the news. Lots of speculation on the causes of this, I would also say a lot could have been prevented with good engineering, but with government, that is probably an excluded term...
