from the article: "We didn't realize that it was a business venture, and we wouldn't have known what the phrase meant. But we did have a sense that if we worked hard, we might make money. And that was an exciting idea: making money," Simmons writes. "It still is."

How about Venezuela? I have a picture in my mind of Gene running from a hungry crowd in platform soles with his tongue out!

Having actually done business with Simmons, I can attest to the truth of his business acumen.Like most good businessmen he is interested in opportunity and results. From his original attempt at a band "Wicked Lester" to KISS, he, as he put it, "humped doing whatever to succeed. Putting flyers on every car in a popular parking lot to soliciting business in order to create his own opportunities, he made an empire. Not the world's best bass player, he surely was and is the word's best RnR exploiter.

KISS still put on one of the most entertaining concerts on the market today. I've seen them 23 times over the years, and have enjoyed each time. They have appeared on several television/internet shows, and I'll tell you, you won't get a better interview than if you go one on one with either Gene or Paul.

Love his bluntness. I also love how he shuts down the implications presented by the interviewer.

I've seen him interviewed many times. His position on a great many things is consistent and refreshing.
