All those clashes of interest seem to turn into meaningless bickering that is an embarrassment. This seems to keep them from focusing on any cohesive agenda that is broader in focus. There is no string binding and joining there overall message. They get stuck in arguments over each issue that arrises. There is no leadership that the majority of the party can rally around. Liberty through capitalism. Free trade,not free stuff. Separate religion and state. It is a quagmire that cannot be legislated and will prove fruitless and distructive to the conservative values they supposedly care about. The individual has a right to hold any beliefs about religon they wish, but it will always divide the Republicans and make it difficult to further a reasonable conservative platform. The power is too heady for most reasonable men to walk away from.... Rand Paul has always been consistant in his views. I wish he could be given more credit for that consistancy. What could be wrong with words such as freedom, liberty, protecting and abiding by the the US Constitution. Every senator and representative should use those words constantly. I was absolutely baffled by this and other Republicans' remarks of hostility towards these ideas.

Sure, there will be a clash of interests on certain issues, but if anything this last presidential election should have proved that the ideas of unrestrained liberty and limited government are important enough to fight for...even if it means denying Republicans the option of being the 'less of two evils' choice. All or nothing. At least, as close to a separation of state and economics/social, etc. as possible.

This really does underline the moral premise behind the 'religious right', altruism. No matter how much Republicans defend liberty, until they can morally defend it and capitalism etc. philosophically as truthful and just, they will be fighting this type of battle within their own ranks who are more individual rights minded.

I love the fact, Rand Paul sticks to the constitution. I wish all politicians would and see how that works out; it did make us the most successful country on earth.

I think somebody got some dirt on Christi (right around the Sandy Storm time) and used some pull. He's lost some of his boldness...and I thought it was weight he was supposed to be losing. Something's not right. And his argument was completely emotionally based. Red flag.

Right on, dude/mam, there is the basis for all the laws that we need right there. I am disgusted when anyone says our Constitution is behind the times, outdated, etc. I, too, admire Rand Paul for sticking to his guns!!! Also, I was not necessarily slamming Christi for his remarks.
