We used to have a friend who owned a gun store; he would work the buy-back lines, offering to pay more than the buy-back program would. He often did very well - and so did the sellers. The police didn't like it, but he was scrupulous about obeying the law [back when you could tell what it meant!]

They still get to run in the re-election, so this will be a great test of the true feelings of their constituency. My fingers are crossed!

Yes, indeed. The author and his/her supporters assume that with all those guns removed from the streets, crime will simply cease...and they can all live happily ever after. Very short-sighted and dim-witted! The 2nd amendment gives us the right to bear arms, not to commit crime but to protect ourselves FROM crime. Sadly, sometimes the law enforcement agents have to use there guns...ergo, hopefully we don't, in the matter of protection.

That makes a lot of sense. Why take a perfectly good piece of merchandise and destroy it. Some are antiques and beautiful. I have wondered sometimes how many never make it to the melt-down pot.

I wonder if the author of this new law even considered a police officer disarming a criminal perpetrating gun violence without first having researched the thugs background? It seems to me, progressives fail to recognize reality and their good ideas often have unintended consequences; sometimes horribly. A quote that best describes the progressive ideology is “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

I don't like the buy-back programs that destroy perfectly good guns.

There are some that I have seen that allow the guns to be resold by licensed dealers, and some of the profits are returned to the community.
