If someone has a problem with this group, and not all the other race based student organizations then wouldn't that mean that that someone is okay with discriminating against a certain group solely based on race?

It's good that some of the media are now unafraid to call those divisive people out who have been key in perpetuating these kind of tactics. Hopefully, it will get traction and expose those hypocrites who wrongfully and radically particpate in perpetuating hate, while feigning that they are actually quite righteous in their activities.

I found this old, silly, and offensive. White Student Unions go back 30 years as a way to challenge the BSU and Latino, etc., clubs. And it would be funny in a way to form a Straight Pride club, or a Dishonor Society for students with bad grades who consider themselves good scholars nonetheless, only that their professors judge them unfairly. And so on.

But all of that drops a lot of context.

The peculiar nature of slavery in America, Jim Crow, and segregation made Black Student Unions important in their time. But of necessity, that came with ideological problems that never were identified objectively.

By definition, racism is prejudice with power. Whites held power. But now our President is an African-American in a funny kind of what that makes him more like a second-generation European immigrant. But that is not the point. Now, every prejudiced person can look forward to power.

"Racism is the lowest, most crudely primitive form of collectivism. It is the notion of ascribing moral, social or political significance to a man’s genetic lineage—the notion that a man’s intellectual and characterological traits are produced and transmitted by his internal body chemistry. Which means, in practice, that a man is to be judged, not by his own character and actions, but by the characters and actions of a collective of ancestors." -- Ayn Rand

I find it offensive that self-styled "individualist" tolerates, excuses, and justifies discrimination as a political right. You have a political right to cut off your nose. Do that you advocate that also? For an Objectivist, the irrational is immoral. Anyone who has read _Atlas Shrugged_ and actually understood it should know that.

This isn't 30 years ago. Who holds "the power" now and what purpose do these groups serve today. Are you "offended" by the existence of the other race groups on campus (or elsewhere) as well? Why, do you think, no one has "identified objectively" the "ideological problems" of the BSU?
Who are you referring to when you talk about the "self-styled individualist justifying discrimination"? And how is it irrational to point out the irrationality of other groups, (which is what I believe is the whole point of this new group..and whatever group hung the swastika signs proved their own irrationality.)

Yes it IS unfortunate that all a lefty has to do these days is call someone a racist or a nazi and the conversation ends and others steer clear so they too aren't associated with the racist/nazi person/group. It's the ones that shut-up and steer clear that I have a problem with. It's non-thinking and weak and renders the lefty tactic as effective.

The students they quoted say that the name is offensive. I don't know what else they would call it. The Caucasian student union? The Euro-nordic-anglosaxon-north Asian student union? How about the pigment-aly challenged student union?

I totally understand in this divisive climate why white students feel a need to bond and I totally support that. I guess my question is this. Is the picture of the t-shirt their shirt? Because I have to say the symbolism in the shirt is inflammatory, considering that the goal is to bond over cultural and ancestral commonality. If the shirt isn't theirs, then I think the author or publisher is inaccurately portraying this group.... Feel free to comment if I am missing something.

I didn't see a shirt or a banner....I think you're referring to the sign that others have posted to appose the white group and equate them to swastika lovers. After all, if you're proud of your heritage, and you happen to be white then it's quite obvious you're in favor of aryan naziism. Everybody knows that.

I need to correct my prior comment, I think it is a banner, not a shirt, but I guess my question is. Is this their logo?

What is good for the goose... We should have a color blind society, but it is impossible when some groups segregate themselves, demand special treatment and claim their special cutouts are not discrimination...

Precisely..."white" is the offensive part. What better reason could there be to start a special group? .... If others are offended by the color of your skin, what does that mean. Ut oh.... racist? How about we just start a "Judged by the content of my character club". Every individual is auto enrolled upon birth. And we'll call it America.
