Other Objectivist Discussions
Do you visit other sites such as Objectivist Living, The Rebirth of Reason, Objectivism Online, For Rand Fans, Noodle Food, and SOLO Passion? Do you know about the Google Groups (formerly Usenet newsgroups) alt.philosophy.objectivism and humanities.philosophy.objectivism.
humanities.philosophy.objectivism looks closed.
Objectivist Living is run by Michael Stuart Kelly, who admits on other sites to having been an alcoholic. He claims that he "used reason" to end his addiction, but he still comes across as someone who binges when you read his typically erratic and angry posts. Let's put it this way: his most intelligible posts are the ones with all the otiose non-sequiturs.
SOLO Passion is run by opera-queen Lindsay Perigo, who, according to Barbara Branden, is also an alcoholic. Maybe it's a New Zealand thing, but the regulars at that site are some of the most abusive, foulest-mouthed posters on the Randroid Belt. Perigo seems to prefer it that way.
Noodle Food is run by Diane Hsieh, who dutifully recites the Objectivist Party Line on just about everything, and who bites her upper lip in worried consternation when she differs from Leonard Peikoff on some issue. Not exactly a paragon of independent thinking.
Rebirth of Reason and Objectivism Online are both populated by regulars who haven't read a new book, watched a new movie, or entertained a new idea in years that would challenge their doctrinaire complacency.
Plenty of choices out there. Take your pick.
Thank you for the listing. I have saved them for future reference.
