we have most of our produce grown by large corporate interests not individual farmers so the idea of subsidies disappearing is simply not in th cards. these corporate farmers would scream holy hell just like all the other welfare recipients when their welfare check is in jeopardy. so don't expect that what happened in N.Z.

And that would be a good thing...that crap is eating our engines from autos to lawnmowers, never mind a total waste of energy...hell, even growing the stuff take a lot out of nature...was never meant for more than a cob or two in the summer months and maybe the birds...the stuff makes everything else SICK. Bad for cows and humans.

I always was against subsidies of any kind. Granted, it would be more disruptive to go this route here in the US right now, but America, England, Australia and New Zealand are the most creative countries in the world...if it worked for NZ, it'll work here too! We are made of the same stuff.

NZ now producing 2200 different products from dairy, compared to just 35 when it was a govmt controlled industry!
What a great illustration of benefits of more freedom in the market.
