I'm a little concerned about the backlash that could come from this. It could open the US Government to suit in other countries for Drone Strikes and covert ops for the "Collateral Damge" caused.
I do think the 9/11 families deserve a way to have members of the Saudi royal Family and Government answer the alleations in a formal setting with possible criminal charges being brought. Just not sure this is the correct way.

Actually I think everyone on this thread should refer to the link you provided. At least, I was made much wiser by the article. In summary, it sounds like the REAL problem is if US citizens attempt to hold foreign governments accountable THEN foreigners and foreign governments can hold our government accountable. One thing our government seems to hate more than anything else is accountability. But still check out the article.

From what I understand they would be suing the individual family members and Not the country as a whole...maybe I'm wrong?

If they can afford it, or they have pro bono lawyers, I think it's great. Keep the fact that the Saudis are a bunch of scurrilous weasels to whom 3,000 American deaths are a cause for celebration at the forefront. Perhaps a win could tie up some of their funds here, or maybe they'd settle just to get out of the news. In any case, it might help shine a new light on where Mrs Clinkton gets her money.

Maybe the US government SHOULD be sued for drone strikes and other killings in places it doesnt belong !!!!

As to suing Saudi Arabia, its going to be pretty much impossible to win against a government for the 911 strikes. Just too hard to prove.

    Not sure this bothers me.

It is not obvious that anybody or any organization should get a pass or free ride on "collateral damage". And for me that would likely have a welcome effect on US foreign policy.

If only it was that simple. Courts must be backed up with power, as always. There is little justice for anyone with a weak army.

I would not be surprised if that widow receives an IRS audit for dissing the veto of O the Great and Powerful.

Personally I'm not sure if this is a good thing either but if it keeps us out of other countries a little more it might be.
