A symptom of the sickness raging in our country. Colleges have been dominated by the snowflake regime, and then allow them to graduate. Wait until you have to work with one..

CG, I am sorry, but if you do not believe that there has been a progressive effort to undermine independent thought and innovation, by controlling the education system and seeding it with their own brand of idiots, you have missed it. Frome elementary to colleges, there is a complete disconnect between education and reality, and what needs to be taught to kid, and what is. The "feel good" social more is not applicable to real life, you do not succeed when you fail, an employer does not pay you when you do not work. The education system is a closed loop reactor melting down, it is run by incompetents who have had their tickets punched and who think that attending classes and passing some meaningless tests is a right to a huge salary, and no work need be done. When the crap hits the rotating device they have no answers, no fixes, no solutions, and they continue to just "let the kids play". That does not mean all schools are suspect, there are some good ones ran by good people who do know what the outside world is about, but I am speaking at the large majority. I have been dealing with schools for 40 years now, and have not yet, found one with any kind of leadership needed. Sorry, this is a sore point for me, I had to pull my kids out in order for them to get a basic education, without dealing with all the political BS. And the last school was run by a retired state senator getting 200K year in a poor 1 school district, who told me protecting his "mentally handicap" students were his priority because he got double money for them, and that even though one of them assaulted my son, he couldn't do anything about it. Such things are what breed criminals who think nothing will happen to them when they beat up, rob, mug or assault someone, because they never held them accountable in school.

Simple matter for campus security and, if it is beyond their resources, the police, and if it is beyond police resources, the National Guard or the Army.

    Sorted.

    Next issue, please.

There are no 'safe spaces' in the real world. Colleges and universities which have acceded to the demands of the various interest groups have done the students a great disservice in facing the world outside academia. The instructors, professors, and administrators don't have a problem with this because they have never ventured outside the ivy covered walls, in fact the ivy has ensnared them into a time warp of the protest days of the 60s and 70s which they never left. I am reminded of the many white students who marched in the protests of the 60s, many were killed, those who remember, "Judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their heart", must wonder why after the sacrifices they made the inroads won are being tossed away by the deceitful lies of black 'leaders and told that they too are the oppressors! » This way to the REGRESSION. »

Any social justice warrior that brings their destructive practice into work needs to be given their walking papers. I suppose they all plan to eventually become community organizers.

The temptation is to merely say, "Well that's Berkely for you." But when you have protests as downright stupid as this one, It makes you understand why certain universities in the past were called "Ninnyversities." The fact that such carryings-on take place because in America one has the right to protest, illustrates that when leftists run out of substantive reasons to protest, they'll create inanities instead.

So many of our youth have been infected with all of this liberal nonsense that they don't know how to stand up for themselves or others without passing laws or demanding 'safe places'.
People who were once their age fought wars, died for their beliefs, and stood for what was important! They knew what character was and they exercised it.
That is something the liberal mentality in this nation fails to teach our young.

Maybe I missed something, but isn't white a color?

And can you imagine the uproar and outcry if I, as a white guy, demand MY own space of color, that color being white?

We the "normal" simply lack imagination.

This is the perfect venue to unveil my new line of barbed-wire casual wear!

I do not believe it takes a conspiracy to make some teenagers and young adults act this way. No one is driving the train. Most of them will be embarrassed they were part of it, even if they didn't personally deny anyone passage on account of how they look.

Go look at the videos of the ballots being shredded I posted, if you want to see what is driving this train. When the system is this corrupt, the minor part is programming the kids, to be good little party members and whine on cue.

A little rebellion is a good thing, but as you say it's not rebellion if someone's telling them. Making their own decisions is "adulting". I'm 41, and it seems like starting 10 years after I was a kid, we got this notion that we need hover over kids, make every decision for them, and protect them from even the slightest disappointments of life.

The line I found most annoying about OWS was that they did "what they were told," and they still didn't succeed. I would change that from passive to active voice: "they did what someone else told them and it did not work." That's a powerful lesson. Doing what other people say doesn't always get the results you want.

I don't know. There's a lot of talk about "grit". Hopefully the pendulum is swinging the other way.

It is sad, they are raised to be insecure and depend on authority to coddle them, then rebel when told and against who they are told to. Sad, really...

I didn't believe this safe space stuff until I saw it. I told myself I would not grow old and say things like "kids today..." but goodness. Hopefully they grow out of this.

By now, any student who chooses to go to Berkeley should know what to expect. It's been a haven for the extreme left for decades.
