Armin Shimerman was Dr. Potter
In Part I, Dr. Potter was played by Rand fan Armin Shimerman. Best known as "Quark" from Deep Space Nine, he has a long filmography, of course. (See here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001734/)
He was the GOH at a trekker con in Detroit in the mid-90s and I asked him about Ayn Rand, considering that Quark is the ultimate capitalist on that series. (Usually embarrassingly greedy, he does have several heroic moments and an entire episode based on "Casablanca.") He understood the questions and said that when he was in college, he enjoyed "The Fountainhead" and would be reading more Ayn Rand (he called her "Ann") in preparation for the next shooting season of DS-9.
