I do! and let's send him a slew of fan letters, too. I WAS that kid - I remember asking the librarian for the hardest book she had, reading it overnight, taking it back -and being praised, apologized to for not having something at my level, and being advised to get a library card right away!
ooh, ooh we could send the librarian some "fan" letters - "thank you for participating in the 'let's destroy any sing of competence and individuality in the scools WE pay for! Keep up the good work!"

I could mail it in clear plastic wrapping for all to see. Nothing like being transparent eh? In fact if we all lobbed in a few quid, we could buy copies for all the kids in class - in the name of equality of course. ;]

Hey Joss! I wonder if the school would give it to him. They'd be all suspicious of a package being mailed to a school studen...the librarian would see it and probably have a coronary..it'd be all over the news....scandal would ensue... I say DO IT! :)

I'd gladly buy him a copy of Anthem, it's probably a good one to start him on.

Apparently I didn't read these very thoroughly. You've just told me 3 things that I missed. wow. The little brother came in second place and the librarian can't change the contest. I want to visit that library. There's a cat fight in there.

my other favorite part was the librarian's bitter response to being interviewed by the paper. "Now I can't change the contest."

Ohhh. Maybe I got it mixed up with the principal who had the kids kneeling. I bet it's fun in that library with the librarian and the volunteer.

no. The head librarian wanted to change it to a raffle and the long-time volunteer librarian who actually quizzed the kids on if they read the books said ending the contest was "ridiculous." I loved the part about his brother taking 2nd place. lol

I thought it was the librarian who wanted to keep the contest going and it was the principal who wanted to start a drawing....
