The democrats have a substantial problem. They represent the moochers. As such, they must take from the goose that lays the golden egg, and they will eventually kill it. The republicans need to point out that the dead goose was caused by the dems - particularly when the moochers find there is nothing left to mooch and riot in the streets. I note Detroit just avoided an Obama riot over a supposed anti-homeless freebie of $3500 per person.

I think there is a real concern that conservatives are going to start calling more often this whole notion of the "makers" and "takers" in society. And I don't see any reason why not. The left has called many of us "selfish" for many years, and this has advanced the boldness of the leftist agenda. It's healthy, and honest to paint the other side with such a brush, and the fear is that if the GOP begins doing it, then people may actually stray away from the liberal "feel good" and do anything you want so long as somebody else pays for it mentality. I see real concern that conservatives will trend away from that "compassionate conservatism" that makes the GOP lose all the time.

To superimpose anyone else's idea of what the GOP needs to do would be disingenuous, I would think.

I've observed in a number of fora lately (maybe even this one!) that nearly ALL of the "Why the GOP failed and what they need to do" punditry is really just someone projecting his own agenda onto what s/he wants the GOP to do.

And as a follow up, I'd like to say that the GOP doesn't have a Libertarian problem.
