        Many thanks. I hope you can do an Amazon review. Originally I had some other famous author's quote, but changed it to this. Another of my personal favourites from the book is Senator Olivia Allen's "my colleagues are very compassionate with other people's money."

I just purchased it. Thanks for the recommend, khaling. I won't be able to get to the book for a few days since I'm proofreading two other novels (where the protagonist in one is an evil business man again... ugh!), but I'll soon read it.

Does anyone know of a place where authors and readers who support non-leftist messages are getting together? Is there a group like that here that I've missed? If there are members on this site who write novels like these, I'd love to know who they are so I can read their work and support them as well.

Again, thanks for the recommend, khaling. Keep them coming, please.

        The new wave in Hollywood is to show the evil businessman antagonist not even get his due; unimaginably cynical and infinitely worse than the antagonist like that getting his comeuppance; anyone saw Arbitrage starring Richard Gere? That's where the culture has got to. Good luck with your novel.

        self publishing is the wave of the future. Most publishers aren't doing that well. They are almost all progressive. They do not want sane heroes with sound principles. My novel has broken into the Top 100 medical thrillers. I am self-published. Consider reading, "Pendulum of Justice," Hiraghm, I think you'll like it. How far along are you in "The Frankenstein Candidate?" I am really looking forward to a discussion about it on this post.

  well, minnie, I have just released a techno thriller with my husband, "Pendulum of Justice." wdonway has several novels and a couple of books of poetry out, consider starting with "The Price of Hannah Blake." AJ's novel, "Shadows Live Under Seashells," overmanwarrior's novel, "Symposium of Justice" and "Tail of the Dragon."
  Check out Goodread's small government group. Lets Shrug and I are members.

        94% is right after the election/appointments so I was annoyed with that...but the subsequent unraveling of the politicians was nice. Frank stood his ground and stirred up somethings, which is what we need, just a lot more of it.

        Finished mine about 5 minutes ago. Vinay must have been channeling Allen Drury. Much of the plot line could have been drawn from his famous series. The political maturation of Olivia reads much like Ceil Jason, with a happier ending. Frank comes off like Orrin Knox, though Frank gets to keep his Kyla. An enjoyable read.

        Hi, John, I hadn't heard of Allen Drury until Walter Donway, and then another reader compared the book to Advice & Consent. I still haven't read that book. Please do a review on Amazon when you can.

        Allen Drury's series begins with 'Advise and Consent' and goes through 'Promise of Joy'. The intervening books are 'Capable of Honor', 'A Shade of Difference', 'Preserve and Protect', 'Come Nineveh, Come Tyre'. At the end of 'Preserve and Protect', there is a seminal event which, in 'Come Nineveh...' and 'Promise...', points to two different endings. Which is where I came up with the comment concerning 'channeling Allen Drury..'. So, to get the full import, you are in for a long reading session. Settle back, get comfortable and have at it.

        There were other readers, including an editor at a publishing house, who felt let down at the election outcome, but some liked the non-cheesy ending & the unpredictability. As Kayla says afterward "we moved the needle...by quite a lot," and Frank says at the start "Id rather be right than President."

        I had 3 endings---Olivia becomes Prez, and FS moves into the White House as Treasury Sec. Frank becomes Prez. And then the one that made the cut. {The SEC is very powerful and can go after anyone with a lot of money. And to run a campaign like FS, you have to be a billionaire to fund it entirely yourself, and be beholden to none.}

        Actually, sorry, that was the way the original manuscript went. Olivia ends up Veep to Claire, and asks that FS becomes Treasury Sec. But then I discarded that one.

        my husband and I mused that Frank and Olivia would become part of a shadow government. It would be an enjoyable sequel. I would love to read about how to keep that needle moving-certainly it can't be done in in one election cycle. As well, I would have enjoyed more of Kayla's story, and her work as a journalist.

        Kayla could come back powerfully in a sequel. Yes, I agree, more of her would have been good. At least she lasted the distance, whereas I thought XXXtine was about to be rescued from the bathtub.
