The Bane of McCain

I'm from the Vince Flynn school of intelligence gathering. The current movie "American Assassin" is based on one of his books. Only one character is portrayed accurately, he is played by Michael Keaton to a fair-thee-well and makes the whole film worth seeing. That performance made me think of John McCain and what it takes to withstand torture.

The current paradigm purports that torture doesn't work. You cannot say that to anyone who has performed it or has suffered it. ".....if you try to convince people in thousand dollar suits who had Ivy League law degrees that torture was an effective and necessary tool against an enemy who refused to put on a uniform and intentionally targeted civilians, you'd be wasting your breath." Most operatives are well aware that torture, if given enough time, will inevitably break the strongest of wills. That is particularly true when psychological torture is combined with physical torture.

Because of our squeamishness about torture and being forbidden to practice it, the subject to be tortured is sent to countries where it is happily used such as Saudi Arabia. While a book can be written about the effectiveness of torture the only ones benefiting from it are the ones doing it.> The results have been so redacted that the result is useless to us and useful to the torturers. Those being "questioned" usually wind up dead after a week or two.If you believe as I do that that torture is effective and should be used when our people's lives are on the line, we now come to Senator John McCain.I have done little research of a psychological or biographical study of Senator McCain.I cannot know for certain that as a prisoner he was subject to torture or not.I do know that as a result of his stay at the hands of the enemy he has lost the proper use of his arms.According to the story, he was subjected to week and moths of torture and never broke. Through the influence of his family he was given the chance to walk away but preferred to stay with his men.So Senator McCain was that one person in a thousand who couldn't be broken by torture. However, when he ran for president, I could hardly wait to support this great hero. But instead, I observed this rather wimpy guy with repeating slogans and talking points. If I heard him say "My friends" one more time, I'd throw a shoe at the TV. Could it be as claimed by McCain's fellow prisoners that he broke and became an information conduit for the enemy who covered his treason by portraying it as heroism?

To sum up, I was not surprised when Senator McCain showed his true colors by not helping Trump get us out of Obamacare and admitting that there was no possible way he would ever vote for anything Trump put forth. Like the vengeful child he is, he had been insulted by Trump and would get back at him every chance he got and to hell with what was best for his constituents who are paying from what I understand the highest premiums for health insurance.

My husband just finished "Enemy of the State." He said it was a good read. If Kyle Mills ever tires of the Mitch Rapp series, he will probably go back to writing about Mark Beaman who is an FBI agent. I enjoyed those books, too.

Is this who you are talking about?

Is it too much for a United States Supreme Court Justice to have a little reverence for the Constitution of the United States? Apparently that’s the case for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who on a visit to the Middle East was asked if Egypt should model the United States Constitution when setting up theirs. Her response was a disturbing ‘no’

No but He is a great fit as he and Vince both admired Tom Clancy , and were born in 66 .
Kyles father was an FBI agent giving him a great insight into that life.

Herb, figuring out the liberal mind is easy. Just go back to the schoolyard and imagine all the bullies, the immaturity, the jockeying for position (no matter the cost), the arrogance brought on by never having to suffer the consequences of a bad decision, and you have the liberal mind. They are evil little children who never learned or weren't taught the value of....well, values. Not to mention the golden rule and how to play well with others.

Have you read the latest Mitch Rapp? I think Kyle Mills is doing a good job with the continuation of the series.

McCain is glass A jerk. He puts personal revenge ahead of his country. Therefore, he is sadly lacking in character.

I respect McCain for his war record. I voted for him in 2008 as the only alternative to Obama. I never agreed with his "campaign finance reform", believing it to be unjust and un-Constitutional. And I
don't like the way he has been behaving in Congress, and I am very disappointed at their failure to get rid of Obamacare.

There were no Republicans when Obamacare came into existence. Who in the world thinks a failing partisan law designed to undo our Republic can be allowed to exist???

I recently saw her on TV...spouting the usual democrat talking points. She looks like she could assume room temperature at any moment....but i am sure....like Yasir Arafat...she will not leave the scene at a convenient moment. People like this seem to hang on forever. Maybe they have made a deal with the devil!?

Don't like McCain. He's a statist leftist in my eyes.

I don't think governments should be allowed to torture nor execute people. That's not to say that I don't think there's no purpose for those things. Somebody harms a kid and a little work with the pliers might be appropriate...just not by a government representative. KnowwhatImean?...

I have a high school friend (Joe) that made the Naval Academy (middle of his class), flew in Vietnam, was shot down, spent five years in the Hilton, had a lot of interaction with McCain. He retired from the Navy as a Vice Admiral. In many conversations over the years, his only comment when asked about McCain is, "I don't like him" He'll say no more. That's enough for me.

I agree. McCain is a worthless lawmaker. He Hates Trump and wouldnt vote for anything Trump had anything to do with. He apparently resents Trump for winning, when he didnt. He resents Trump for preferring soldiers who DONT get captured. I dont see anything wrong with that. In any case, McCain wont be around much longer anyway and should step down before he does more damage to Arizona.
